Y-Splitter Hose Question

I was taking off my intake to install a Code 3 intake, and when I pulled up on the y splitter, the hose on the left side that plugs into it came off easily. The other one is attached securely, and won't budge. I guess the sealant that is used to keep it from coming off dried up.

I wasn't rough when taking it apart, so I know it was loose to begin with. I wonder how long I was driving around with this hose not sealed tight ... it was connected, but not sealed properly.

My question is basically this, would a connected, but not sealed hose cause a lot of dirt and debris to enter my engine? Or is it connected good enough to keep out dirt? I'm worried here, someone help me out. Thanks

12 hrs and 15 minutes to be exact, plus with over 200 reads I thought at least one person would have chimed in. Thank you for your reply though. It's kind of an oval shaped opening on the splitter, so I'll see if a hose clamp will do the trick, if not, I'll use some silicone sealant.
