Yea it's an estimation based on your driving habits. It's not like a odometer where it goes down 1 mile for every mile you drive.
If you take it easy and use your cruise control you'll go way beyond the 5900 miles however if you drive more aggressively you'll notice the counter drop quite rapidly.
