Please help. What would you do. TB actuator code and fix
So I've posted on this topic before but it eneded up centering on my IC pump, which also was throwing a code. Let me set this part straight, I took the car to the dealer ONLY because it was running redicously consistant slow times (14.8 10x in row), there was nothing "wrong" with car. never had a CEL or ESP light on. While at the dealers, they were able to get a CEL on and read it. Two codes were present, Throttle monitor faulty and Intake Air temp too hot.
SO they (verbatim)" tested actual values for pedal position sensor-ok. Checked actual values for throttle actuator motor-ok. Checked actual values for throttle actuator -no response. internal resistance of throttle actuator-ol. needs throttle actuator". So when I picked it up from the dealer the CEL was still on. I took it home and let it sit for two week while on vaca. Came home a few days ago, started it up, ESP light was on. Drove it around, restarted it, and no ESP light or CEL for the past three days. Had it read again, no codes at all.
I have no questions about the IC pump, Im sure its bad and a new one comes in the pulley kit. I do have a couple really important questions about the TB actuator
1. From the dealer's testing does it sound like its DEFINATELY the actuator? When doing research Ive found a number of people that were told it was the actuator and something else fixed i.t Id have to look up examples
2.Can the actuator be acting improperly and robbing horsepower even when the CEL or ESP lights are not on?
2. Where do I go from here? Dealer wants a rediculous amount ($1800 for Just the TB!Not including IC pump or having a pulley kit put in) I have a private MB mechanic who said he'll do the service for the thottle body and pulley kit and supporting mods for 6-7hours worth of work ($100/hr) which Im willing to pay. But what do I do have him do, take off the TB and perform some sort of impedance test? Or is that what the dealer did when they "Checked actual values for throttle actuator -no response"?
3.If the test says its def the actuator (or if we think the dealer's findings are def. correct) then would the cheapest route be having the TB rebuilt. I only know of the site recommended on the boards-http://bba-reman.com/uk. Would a rebuild fix the actuator? I think I've seen replacement actuators, for sale by themselves but they are still uber doe~$600
Thanks in advance so much for any help provided

First, relax a bit. You may be getting all stressed out for nothing. There may be nothing wrong with your TB. It would have been a good idea to clear any stored codes and see if the TB codes comes back.
Do one thing at a time. Get your new pump installed and see how things are. Then install the pulley. If you need a replacement TB, they are available from ebay for under $200. Also, invest in some kind of OBD2 monitoring device. iPad based or a simple CarChip. This way you can be sure if your RPMs or Intake Air Temp or Boost are in order.

T.hanks Lennon, def stressed. Problem is the CEL not being on, the car is noticibly slower, and I wanna know why. The intercooler pump comse with the pulley kit so I wanna do em at the same time. Also you ar the first person to ever mention cheap TB option.

Don't do the pump and the pulley at the same time. If you have new problems (I hope not), you will not know what caused it. Give it a week before installing the pulley. Also search ebay. You can get a used TB in good shape. Look for part number 1131410125.

So by the looks of it with that part number it seems the C32 shares the same throttle body as other Mercedes? Which models? Also is buying a used one fine, or is it better to buy a new one?
I can get a new one for like $500 but I don't know if I want to spend that much if I don't have to...

I am having the same issues. I ordered the used throttle body off Ebay sold by Renntech Mercedes. For the price it not worth even second guessing. If it isn't in the throttle body I will start replacing the wiring that goes to the TB. Mercedes quoted me 1800.00 (can) new as well.

It's always good to hear when a part actually fixes a problem. Lenin was also helpful with the same issue on my car. Still waiting for my throttle body.

EVERYONE on here has had to put a new IC pump in. Do that right away. I can almost guarantee that's what's slowing up your car. I get that the pump comes with the pulley kit, but the two installation procedures have nothing to do with each other. Of course, unless we're talking about the heat exchanger too (then that makes sense). Still though, we can do all of these things ourselves in one day. Did you lose my number? Victory's releasing a new beer next month. Let's check it out.
