2002 C32 AMG
Hi. Can I ask - is the car REALLY totalled, like all bent up like a pretzel, or is the bumper just pushed in a bit? I ask because I bought a "totaled" C32 at an auction and the only thing wrong was the bumper, heat exchanger and radiators pushed in a bit but at dealer prices, this was enought to "total" the car(bumper cover alone was >$4500 at dealer). I picked it up for a couple grand, got all parts after market and used on ebay, put it back together for <$2K. Now have a great car for way cheap! Insurance companies are great!
So, if it is not badly damaged, you mat want to take the money, buy the car back from them, do the repairs yourself with used parts, and still have $ left over.
Just a thought if youre mechanically inclined......or you could sell it to me.....ill build one for the wife.........

Chedeng wasn't saying that the C55 is the best looking Benz of all, he's just saying that the C55 looks better than a C32.
They are all in the same class(W203/204)..................dragging the SLR into this is just silly. Again, its subjective. He likes his C32 and would like another one, why steer him anyplace else. Some people love the R63 and I think its butt ugly............................

That was just an exaggeration of the comparo you were doing just in case you didn't get it. Yeah same class, but a used C63 still costs 3 to 4 times than that of a used C32/55, which also makes it a "silly" comparison.

To each own, but sorry C32 is a lot cheaper than C55 not in the same price range. You can get a C32 for about 10K-12K. Can you get a C55 for 10K? Maybe in Junkyard

And plus, his posts is "Posts: 3,351" your is 16? this is like 200x different

LOL! You can get a C55 in good condition now for 15K or even lower just in case you've been living under a rock. 2-3K price diff is comparable. Perhaps that's why a lot of people (including the OP) have been cross shopping them both recently? Hmmm...

And what does the no. of posts have to do with this? Does everything you say become law when you reach a thousand posts? Perhaps I should spam the Test forum until I reach 5K posts

@JLM32 Just to get back to the topic.....I would go for the newer model 9 out of 10 times but if u are planning to mod the car best bang for the buck is the C32 unless you have $$$ to spare then get the C55 and SC it!!! price b/w the two will be comparable (SC for C55 not included). GL

There's an SC'd C55 on EBay now and the reserve is about $26 K. This is forum member Mike's (Alumar) old car. You can get a C32 for about half that, mod it to the tune of $2 K and still have a very desirable C Class that'll beat 99% of the cars out there. I have a sneaking suspicion that he doesn't want to spend $26 K for a Kleemann, BUT that's his choice. The ONLY reason I point this out is that the C32 is so much easier to mod than the C55.

He can get a used C55, BUT a Kleemann kit and the install are going to be at least $10K -12K. So, now you're into the car for at least $25-30 K.
