Modded: 2010 CTS-V or 2010 C63 or 2006 SL65?

I am considering what my next project car would be with a budget of no more than $75K fully modded.

1) CTS-V - tuned with LT headers.
2) C63 - tuned with LT headers and Weistec or XtraPower SC kit.
3) SL65 - tune only.

All can easily be modded to exceed 600rwhp.

Which would be your preference and why?

1) CTS-V - tuned with LT headers. Can be made crazy fast with relatively easy mods, stick with the 10s or newer. Value dives faster than a seal being chased by a great white (sorry, too much Shark Week)

2) C63 - tuned with LT headers and Weistec or XtraPower SC kit. Probably the BEST supercar made for the $$. With some headers and a tune and Weisetc, you've got a 10s car; easily low 11s ; Me, I'd find me a P31 package with the LSD BUT these are still in the mid-high $50s now. New car with 7 MCT coming out in 12 so the 10-11s will be dropping like that seal as well.

3) SL65 - tune only. Great car, wicked torque ratings, very modifiable too, Speeddriven has made some of these wickedly fast. 200 MPH car!!! Can be had in the $50-60s range with moderate miles. Very very costly to repair if something goes bad on you.....................

So, I'd do the C63, BUT that's just me!! (if I really had my druthers, I'd do a 997.2 TT with Sport Chrono!!)

Your worst nightmare...
I would go the P-car route...Handling and Fast. Would you entertain a GTR?

From your choices I would pick the CTS-V.

A new GTR is in the $80-90 range, so its doable for you. 2012 model is sick!! Can be made sick fast with AWD!!

Godspeed knows the 65 engine, he's had one!! Wicked fast BUT oh so costly!!!

ZO-6 perhaps. Also, a great qtr mile car and can hook if driven correctly. No reason a ZO-6 can't be a DD and regularly run in the 10s.

Its a tough one..
Ctsv- Tons of aftermarket help, and very affordable at that.
C63- Agressive style, perfect combo power/luxury Moderate aftermarket, compaired to the LS world
SL65- What can I say! Sexy.

I think for a all out racer/D.D. with all intentions of just going down the track, I say the CTS. Easier on the wallet. The SL would be more of my dream car,, I couldnt stand to get a rock/bug chip on the bumper, so I cant really see me beating the hell out of it on the track..
SO, I go with the C63, and the P31 is a must! I also love the BIG N/A V8 power, but having the option for a Supercharger is also a huge factor, so there are a decent amount of options to take with a build. But all in all its a Benz, .. thats why we are here
Just my thoughts!.

SL65, if you can afford it why not go for it. Most power stock and you wont need to spend alot on mods to get where you want. My reason is that you lose money with mods along with warranty/reliability. SL65 will hold value and can be had with a cpo extended warranty. Unless you like to build cars to the max like your C55 then get a C63, I lost alot of money blowing my motor in my EVO and selling it for $15,000. I lost about $32,000 in 3 years with that car.
2nd choice would be CTS-V since it already has a supercharged ZO6 motor with more power to start with, Just a intake/chip/pulley will give you a 600+hp without having a loud sounding long tube headers on a daily driver.

Me personally, I'd probably go with the CTS-V since the LS motors are incredible and can be had with a real manual. However, if you're considering 2 doors look into a C6 Z06.

Hold value, I respectfully disagree. 06s are in the 50-60s range NOW with an original almost $200 K sticker??? They have probably bottomed out in value, BUT be careful, they are very expensive to repair.....

Ugh, everyone and their stupid GTR. That car sucks. I'm sorry, it DOES. It's still an $85K Nissan with a black box to check your driving and void the warranty at the first possible moment. I could get a 996 Turbo for half the price and have it modded reasonably to EASILY outperform that car.

The C63 is the best choice in my opinion, though I can't deny...with an extended warranty the SL 65 would be seriously tempting. Running 10s all day with reasonable mods.

RE: Which Pick

Go with SL65.

From personal experience, having owned an 09 CTS-V the quality is awful. That car had more issues after a year of ownership than I would bother to post here; sold it, and did not miss it for 5 minutes. Replaced it with my SL600.

The V12 is an incredible engine, rest assured you will never get bored of 750+ lbs of torque, and the rest of the car is of outstanding quality, even by MB standards. Do get a warranty.

I have a liking for the CTS-V but as a coupe....why not wait for C63 BS? It'll most likely be in your range in 2014 as a 2012. I still prefer the Benz cause nothing looks sweeter then a sexy *** car leaving you behind. in order based on your choices

C63 AMG
I had the LG motorsports 1 7/8" long tube headers on my C6 Z06 and I gained minimal HP, in fact I gained 13whp with the addition of the long tube headers, HFC and air ffilter(no tune).

I wouldn't put the headers on the LS9 engine for now(Cadillac engine), just focus on a simple tune and maybe the pulley(supercharger pulley that is), I wouldn't even change anything on the exhaust, it already sounds great.

A tune on the Cadillac should run you less than $300 for a custom tune(yeah I know), most o the tuners will tune it with HP tuner.

The C63 wouldn't get you 600whp unless you spend $20000. You hardly see anything over 470whp on any C63 AMG unless you add the supercharger which at that point you might want to rather start with the Cadillac CTS-V which outperform the C63 on everything alerady and comes with the factory warranty.

Asa per the CL 65, I honestly don't know jack about them other than they are expensive as hell and that you don't heard or see them being modded much. Good luck!

The CTS-V has an LSA engine and it is just a detuned version of the LS9 used in the ZR1.
