because there's a big HP difference between a 1.8L I4 vs. 3.2L V6

Plus they are two different superchargers. The C32 supercharger produces more boost.

A C32 will

have an unsuspecting right seater looking for a fresh set of underwear.
Don't take this the wrong way,but comparing a C230's performance envelope to that of a C32 is an awfully long reach.

I think you mean the C320. :p

The difference is in the engine, suspension, gearbox, brakes, interior, electronics, and price! AND OFCOURSE.... the LOOKS!

My question to the experts here is... whats the difference between the C320 engine and the C32 engine? Is it just the supercharger?

With the exception of the valves,

every major part in the block is an AMG fortified unit.

OOPS!..Too much allergy medication...

hit submit too soon.To continue, whether it's a C230 or C320,the outcome in most situations would be the same. You should see the looks after I sneak onto the dragstrip.

I think peter already answered that.

1.8L 4 cylinder vs 3.2L V6. HUGE engine difference.

There is no replacement for displacement.

You're comparing apples to hand grenades

For openers, the C32 is a 3.2 V6,and the C230 is an inline four with 1.8l displacement.Let's see now...around 350HP/330ft-lbs with 1800cc?..It's doable, but I don't think you could match the bigger engines' power output without a LOT of money.Plan on a short fuse to match the HP increase.
I've driven a couple of C230's...decent cars, and not slow by any means; they scoot pretty well for the small engine size.Absolutely NO comparison to my C32.
The only way to have C32 power in a C230 would be a drivetrain transplant. And THAT would be an interesting toy!.

Realistically I believe its very possible. There are C coupes right now that are doing almost 300hp with only a pulley, chip and intercooler upgrade. These are the 2.3L coupes. When they change the blower to a more efficient blower like what Kleemann is trying to make, then I dont see why it wouldnt be able to reach the same amount of HP as a C32.

But Id rather be in a C32 anyday!

The C32 has 2 more cylinders then C230. Got it?
C230 could be faster than C32 when it has a strip diet less then 2000lbs.

i gotta tell ya, there are alot of cars out there with 1.8 4 cylinder engines that are really quick.. and i mean reaaallly quick. They're not that costly either.

Take the Audi TT Quattro for example. I know its light weight and turbo and all.... but come on! That thing has a 0-60 mph times in the 5's!!!

The TT is not light, especially for its size, and does not run 60's in the 5's, more like low to mid 6's

In fact the CLK 55(heaviest CLK) weighs less than the TT by a few pounds and is a 4 seater.

cmon, give me the benefit of the doubt! Maybe i'm a bad driver (which probably is the case), but my friends TT initial 3 seconds of acceleration was pretty shocking when i raced him in my brothers 911 Carrera 2001.

I was very impressed. I'd say at least high 5's if not mid 5's

here's a few pics of his car.

Since when is 230hp close to 300. The 2.3l kompressor engines are not capable of 300hp with there current blower. Granted a 2.3l motor with the right turbo or supercharger is easily capable of well over 300hp, but this motor is not.

Was it stock? I believe you, it's just that i've raced a few TT's & spanked them pretty bad, and i mean bad.......

In the interior picture, is that a boost gauge on the A-pillar? Makes the chances that the car is stock a little slimmer, I'd say.

I've only had one TT challenge me...and it had a bike rack on the back with a Fisher mountain bike strapped in. It's coefficient of drag had to be somewhere around .7 at that point!

If thats the case then, I confirm and declare as of today... that I would go for the C32 AMG over the 911 Carrera anyday. WOW... i gotta admit, i have had a soft spot for the C32 for quite a while! I love it!

Ironically, my brother wants to sell his carrera and get the C32.. but he cant get a serious buyer!

Here's a pic of the car, anyone interested?
