18" AMG replicas, will they fit?

Maybe I'm just a noob and the total width of the tire doesn't increase going up in size of wheels, since there's less rubber, but if it does, there's really no more room in there.

Not at all, they stick a bit out though, so I guess it might rub if I put 3 people in the back seat, but that will take some time to find out since I almost never drive around with a full car.

Very nice, do you notice any difference in handling? Obviously this is also very dependent on the tyre.
Do you mean the width or the diameter of the wheel? Diameter and width are totally independent of each other. Increase the tyre width only (assuming it fits on the rim) and the tyre height (and therefore total wheel diameter) will increase unless you go to a lower profile tyre.

Yeah I meant the total diameter of the wheel, with the tire on, like I said, I'm a noob when it comes to this
It turned out to fit just as well as the old one when it came to the diameter, so no issue. I guess with the 18" wheels I got less rubber on the tires, but same diameter total.
Handling is great, but I'm guessing it's partially because the old ones were rock hard and cracking, plus they were worn down so you could see the white thread inside. The new Continentals are awesome. Also my left turning tendency has disappeared. With the old tires on, if I let the steeringwheel go, the car would cross lanes in 2-3 seconds, it was really bad.

When you increase the size of the rim you need the outside diameter of the whole wheel (with tyre) to be roughly the same size so your speed and acceleration are the same and the wheel actually fits in the wheel well. Bigger rim requires shorter tyre.
Numbers on tyres are 225/40/17 the middle one is basically a ratio of the width of the tyre which indicates the approx height of the tyre. Just for example the height of the tyre itself is very similar with 245/35/17 and 225/40/17 because despite the 245 being wider the lower ratio (profile) means it will be around about the same height. Same thing with rim size increase. Going from a 17" wheel with 225/40/17 to an 18" wheel would probably use a tyre like 225/35/18 to maintain the same wheel (with tyre) diameter.

I just put a new set of 18's on mine and I originally had 235/40's in the front which rubbed with 10mm spacers so I had to buy a new pair of 225/40's. I rub with 255/35's in the rear with 10mm spacers alot. So I had to take out the spacers in the rear so im only running spacers in the front. I wonder if anyone has rolled there fenders on here before so i can run the rear spacer.
Nice wheels btw!
