Shifting issue
I have a 2007 C230 with about 75,000 miles on it. When I come off of the gas pedal & let it coast, it abruptly (but not violently) downshifts at around 15 mph. Also when accelerating from a stop, it feels/sounds like it stays in lower gear range too long before it upshifts - almost like the transmission is slipping, but I don't think that's what's happening. I had the B-service done about 2 weeks ago, & they said the tranny fluid was dark & smelled burnt & suggested a fluid flush & service. Would the fluid condition make a difference in how the car shifts, or could there be a deeper problem? Mechanic says everything operating normally, but the car just doesn't feel 'right' to me. Also, when the a/c is running, I almost have to FLOOR it just to get it to move, & it whines like a remote-control toy. I know the C230 wasn't built to be a speed demon, but I don't think it was built to drive/sound like crap, either.

did you figure out what was wrong with the tranny? i've been experiencing the "hard shift" problem since i purchased my car 3 years ago. i took it to get diagnosed and they found nothing. i had my tranny flushed and the oil replaced in it and it's still happening. i've been living with it this long, but just recently experienced my tranny being unable to downshift below 3rd gear. this happened just once and it's been fine since. there are some tweaks to the tranny that merc benz should address because there are still a lot of us w204 owners out there.
