Need some advice
I would like a repair manual. MB New Zealand cannot get one for me like MBUSA appears to be able to do. There is this one here http://www.mercedesmanuals.com/2001_...p270020306.htm but it is quite expensive. Is this the same as the $60 one you guys all order from MBSUA? Should I go with this or try and get one direct from a US dealer?
Second question is- is it difficult to replace the stock head unit? This is usually the first thing I do with a car but I am used to older japanese cars. The stock unit does not look like a standard DIN size and I have read some threads about the speakers not being standard 4ohms. What does everyone do? I like my USB stick and SD card but I certainly do not want to butcher the car or put something that looks out of place in there.

I would be nice to do a seach before posting. but i see you are new so I will help you out as far as the repair manual go, its calleed WIS I got my first one off ebay seach there or just buyin from the USA most internet sellers ship worldwide so there should not be a problem.
* as far as head unit the chasi of the car is w203 so go to the non amg side locate the DIY thread and you will find the answer to weather or not its dificult.
for future reference if you are looking for answers on issues not involving drivetrain you will be better of starting your seach on the NON AMG w203. please seach before posting next time.

I will search further regarding the head unit, you are right I missed a lot of good threads.
As for the repair manual I have read countless threads already about the various DVD's that area available and yes I have searched on ebay. I know what you are talking about. The general consensus seems to be that these are pretty hit and miss and a lot of them are too difficult to get working people end up sending them back. The same comment to just buy it from MBUSA keeps coming up.
I apologize for wasting your time if this is already stated somewhere but I would appreciate an opinion on the manual I posted the link to. I have seen it mentioned in threads but no one has said if it is actually the same as the official one or if it is any good. if you can get it from mercedes get it, if you cant let me know ( installing the software is a bit of a headache and you might want to find an old laptop to install it on. WIS and EPC combined installed is over 20gb without a tutorial its almost impossible without a tutorial.

Thanks, I certainly cannot get it locally. Maybe I sound cheap but I am not sure I want to spend $10-50 on an international call to find out they would not send it internationally. I don't suppose anyone has an email address for a reliable honest MB dealership I can discuss obtaining it from?
I am sure I could get it working eventually even if I end up creating a virtual 32bit machine with 98 or xp. I do have an older vista laptop but I think it would drive me nuts, takes 2 minutes to open IE.
