Re: Winter Tire Size Options
Hello, to clarify off the bat, I'm a newbie!
I pick up my new (old) 2005 C55 on MOnday... Since its winter up in Canada, I need winter tires/wheels and I need them quick!
I know MB recommends 17" tires for winter but would a 16" fit a C55? I found some OE MB steelies in 16"...
Also, if only 17" fits, what is the recommended tire size?
Thanks,
Mike

16 inch wheels are not going to clear the front calipers. You are going to need 17 inch. MB recommends 225/45/17 on all four wheels for winter tires.
I'm running 225/45/17 Continental Extreme Winter Contacts on OEM C32 17 inch wheels and I have had no problems the last 2 years here in Wisconsin.

I have a staggered set up too, same sizes as GTibunny. I picked them up off a local seller, so it was just what he had. I ran a square 225 winter tire set up on my C43, as recommended, but afterwards I felt I should just go to a staggered set up. In reality, where I drive, the roads are really crappy for just a few days of the winter. The rest of the time, they are in relatively good shape and cleared.

I run 225/45R17 from the c230 coupe. It's a nice looking wheel and you can rotate them. MB recommends that size on 4 corners. Paid 500$ with tires, you can't really beat that!!! check kijiji for a used set there are plenty out there.
