It would have been a steal at 34K miles

Definitely a scam ad though. The low life is using one of Matt's pics after he detailed his C55 in this thread:

https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c...brilliant.html

Most probably you'll get the same old story that he's currently assigned on an overseas job and can't meet you for the sale, but would gladly ship the car to you once you make a deposit lol

eclectic assortment of cars
When I was shopping for my car, I came across a similar ad:

http://alberta.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...AdIdZ320076050

The seller told me it was being sold under market, as she was recently divorced and did not have a driver's license. AND the car was in another city, ready to be shipped. I just had to send her money through PayPal (!) and it would be shipped to me, I'd have five days to check it all out and decide whether I wanted to keep it or not...

90% chance this person is a member on here! this picture doesn't show up when you google "c55 amg" and it's not the easiest picture to find, so this person is on here IMO. more than likely too chicken to come out and say that he did steal matt's photo.

"has been driven an average 5000 miles a year by a professional nonsmoker, and has always been garaged."

I wonder what it entails being a professional nonsmoker

Reminds me of when I bought my car, it was located 500 miles from where I live and the day before I left, pictures of it showed up on an eBay listing claiming it to be seven states away from it's location. Before I left I talked to the bank holding the title and they assured me they knew the owner and were reading me the VIN and description form the actual title. When I got home with my car I contacted eBay and mentioned the car in the ad was in my garage and was never available. The ad disappeared in hours. I hate people like this, wish they could just be hit by a bus.

Yeah, I've encountered that exact same divorce story too when I inquired about a Lexus IS-F.

Another variation is that the seller is in the military. They would also ask for the "inspection deposit" done via "CarFax BuyBack Program" or some other fake escrow service to make the not so savvy buyer feel that their money will be safe. Sadly, there's a sucker born every minute.

One easy test is to request for a picture of an unusual spot on the car. Chances are it's a scam if they can't provide it.

I also mess with them back when I'm in the mood, by asking lots of detailed (even nonsensical) questions in a span of several emails... keeping them motivated by implying that I'm about to send in the money. After they have wasted a considerable amount of time on me, I then reveal that I'm an FBI agent trying to track him for months, and that we now have all the information we need to locate and arrest him lol

The sad truth is that some people actually fall for these scams.

Maybe a bunch of us should, just overwhelm the slime ***** with "interest" and just jack them around for as long as we can. If they do give a PayPAl address, actually give it to the authorities, it has to belong to someone.

I just reported the bogus ads to Cars.com for now. Not in the mood to play with these "professional nonsmokers" for now

It's kinda easy to detect most of those scams at cars.com.
Whenever a car is listed like $10-20k under normal price, and it's an individual seller who only goes by first name, then it's kinda no doubt.

Wow...thanks for the heads up! I can't see the ad now, so I guess it's been deleted.

But that really annoys me. I hope people don't see my legit ad on Autotrader now and think it's part of the same scam. WTF is wrong with people!?

Well, the deed's already been done, I'm afraid.

I'm sad that I never got to realize my dream of a C55 on BBS LM's, but I just couldn't resist this one...

Thanks Phil. I recently crossed over 1000 miles, changed the oil and let her rip. She's a rocket.

Really top notch, in my opinion. Lot's of nice little details make it a great place to spend time...alcantara seat and door inserts, stitched dash & doors, accent interior illumination, etc... I've got the optional Recaro seat package.

C55 on LMs vs. 556 supercharged HP...tough decision, eh?

I suppose you can always put LMs on the CTS-V! I followed one a few weeks ago, very badass from behind. All business.
