So Cal Road Course?
Or are there any track days coming up that are open to the public?
Would any Southern Cali's be interested?
Let me know
Evan
Oh yea, how is willow springs btw? Does anyone have experience on that track? I hear the majority of track are hard on your breaks but how has Willow treated people?

...How many people would be interested?

Were you able to get a price qoute for the day rental? Silva32 had said $3500, is that a close estamate?
I am working on drivers as we speak. Right now I am recruiting 3 other cars (tenative) plus myself. Come on people! I know there are some people out there that want some track time.
If we can have a member count of those interested, let's rent the track for a day and have some fun. If we can cut cost down to under $100 per day with no profit involved, more people can come and have fun. I really don't think we need instructors or food stands. Let's arrange it as more of a pure club racing. I would suggest limiting to MB members only just to start. If we are short on people, then we can invite Audi or BMW members too. What do you guys think?

You only brake for turns 1 and 3 and just slightly for the downhill turn 5. Other than that you should be wide open through turns 8 and 9. Well maybe roll back just slightly for turn 9, but you will lose most of the speed you need to by scrubbing the front tires on the positive banking going in.
I only know lap times for the 2.5 mile curcuit from Superbike racing which would be in the 1min. 22 sec range. I guess a well set up MB might do 1min 40 sec to 1 min 30 sec.

I want to be able to pass on the corners, outside of course.
I was under the impression that willow springs is easier to obtain for the day then CA SPeedway. If someone thinks I am wrong feel free to shoot that thought down. I am going to make a few calls to get rough estimates as far as $$$$$ and DATES
Any Suggestions?
Oh yea, hey SpeedyBenz, I don't know about passing in the corners. You are going to be on the track w/ some inexperienced drivers (myslef included). If you knew that would you still want to be able to pass in the corners? Some people say don't knock it till you try it. It is a huge adrenalin rush.

So a slow guy holding his line is pretty safe and will show him that there is more potential left in his car or in his technique.
Plus Willow Springs is pretty easy to learn, as far as the driving line and because it is so fast it promotes smooth driving.
California Speedway would be much harder on brakes, about the same on tires.
Jeff
Yes I would still want to pass. Because I think even the less experienced drivers can hold a steady line through the corner...
SpeedTrail USA held their event at CA Speedway on Sat and Sun. Their admission is $290 for two full days of racing. Which I think is a bit pricy.

KWIK,
I want to drive my car home too and it is 6 hrs for me. But it is just lapping round a track. This is not racing. Also we can split up the people into groups if that works out better. The faster group can be set up so that passing is allowed and the slower group setup so no passing is allowed except on the straights.
I just want to go to have fun and not be held up by C32's or faster cars down the straight and then have to poke around behind them through the corners, then get out motored on the straight.
Believe me that gets pretty old in a hurry.
Jeff
I dont know where the track is But if its reasonably close and the price is around 100 - 150 for a full day i'de probably be in. We only need 35 people for it to be $100. This is California! There has got to be way more than 35 people who would love to do this.
Make it happen
