Has anyone tapped into the footwell or foglight circuit?
I am going to be wiring up a set of LED strips from Aznoptics. I have wired them up before on my truck but I just went straight to the fuse box and did an add-a-circuit. For the benz, I would like to make it a bit more sophisticated in that I would like them to come on with remote unlock and stay on till ignition switch-off.
I know in my old beemer, I tapped the footwell lights. Wondering if anyone knows if that would work on the C55? What about the puddle lights underneath driver's door? Fog lights?
All ideas welcome.

Shouldn't be a problem as the energy draw from LED is a lot less than the standard lighting say the fog lights. Don't forget most of the lights are on a monitoring system to signal a burnt bulb. Tampering with the amperage flow can cause false positive for bad bulbs, and create a permanent display malfunction.
As far as which circuit to tap into I would suggest the interior dome lighting. Through that they will illuminate upon unlock. Yes, they will turn on when using a specific dome light, but that shouldn't be much of a problem. Problem with that is running wiring from lighting system to new LED array without any visibility. Take your time though, and it will come together...

Hi there, you best bet to defeat the SAM and analysis with faulty bulbs and CAN etc etc is to by a bypass relay. I did this on my C32 to attach a towing hitch and the principle can be applied to any similar situation.

Thanks for the ideas. The LEDs will be powered right off the battery. I will be splicing only for switching the power, either on remote unlock or on ignition. That would still throw circuit errors?
What about tapping the fuse box? Are there spare fuse locations to provide switched power? I can just do add-a-circuit.
