Hey, took my c32 to mercedes benz in Georgetown. 85 k on it. 2002. They tell me that metal is in the tranny and I need a new tranny. They want 6700.00 for a new one installed, which isn't going to happen. anyone else in the austin texas area, have someone that they would recommend to fix it?
Well if it is driving ok and they say you need a new one. I would put fresh fluid in it and drive it til it fails. I have 170k on my tranny and yeah it's only a C230 but I still drive and beat the crap out of it. Don't believe everything you hear from the dealers. Especially if it was driving fine before you took it in.

If you aren't having any issues don't replace it. AMG trannys are built pretty tough. I'm not sure exactly how much "metal" is floating around in there but if it's just some shavings, you should be fine.
