Which PULLEY & TUNE To Go For???
hey,
my 2002 C32 is pretty standard apart from full SL55 intake with K&N's and johnson i/c pump and isolation kit.
engine is in good shape with full service's and new geniune plugs and leads.
So im going to buy a pulley and tune from eurocharged
but there is 3 to choose from 181/185/or s/c pulley and tune
not much difference in price between them.
i wont be doing any more mods....but i want the car to be reliable/nice to drive etc etc
s/c pulley and tune is cheapest and has good figures.
SO WHICH DO I GO FOR?
oH.....Do i need to buy a new belt and tensioner to keep it all tight?

Eurocharged Performance ML63 and TT lambo
Supercharger pulley, just because of the ease of install. The 181/185 require professional installation and 2 hours of labor. The Supercharger pulley is only 20 minutes to install and can be done yourself.

+1 for the Eurocharged 65mm supercharger pulley + tune. I'm loving the results of mine. A very safe way to add performance... the smallest amount of heat gain and a much more painless install.
The 181/185 pulleys add load to all accessories, and on the M112 there's no way to use the factory crank pulley tool. The 178 pulley allows use of the factory tool, and gives a slight amount more grunt than the 65mm S/C pulley, but they are very similar in performance. Maybe a tenth difference in the 1/4...
When I ran my 12.3, I had three mods. NW single intake, EC pulley and EC tune. Your results may vary

I also have the SC Pulley + tune and I think it's great. I've taken the car to 5 track days since I got the upgrade late last year and it has performed flawlessly. Keep in mind I am probably putting more stress on it than most other people.

I've been running 185 pulley for over 2 years and close to 40K miles with good results. For ease of installation and reliability though, I would go with SC pulley that I've been hearing good things about.
I just wished that EC can come up with a package for stacked pulley (185 plus SC pulleys) and upgraded fuel delivery for increased reliability.

So much heat is created, the intercooler can't keep up. Plus with a stacked setup, you're spinning the S/C at over 17,000 RPMs... not healthy for it.

One thing to keep in mind....I originally started out with the SC pulley, but eventually wanted MORE power!! Sold it and swapped out to a 185.
Been super happy with the 185 ever since. It has enough power to keep me happy most of the time.

Just out of interest.... what crank pulley would you need to run a stacked setup equivalent to only running a 185mm? ie 185mm creates 22psi boost, would the SC pulley and a 178mm pulley be about 22psi also? or the SC + 181?

You're right on the money, Steve was running the S/C pulley and the 178 and saw 22-23 PSI... IAT's at the end of the 1/4 mile were >160° though, and he has a beefed up cooling system.

That would be the best of both worlds then except money of course. You can run high boost without excessively overworking your accessories and still have good belt wrap on the supercharger pulley.
Again just curious, what were the intercooler upgrades? Pump and heat exchanger are easy. Was the intercooler core itself upgraded?

He was running a Needswings Super Cooler as the heat exchanger, Johnson CM30 and the intercooler was factory. Intercooler is the weak link, there's no cheap way to mod it but it simply can't shed the heat coming off the blower at 22 psi... It was inadequate for the stock 14 psi, IMO.

If I am not mistaken, Jake was running stacked pulley and for cooling purposes, he used nos to cool down his sc by spraying it to throttle body.
Either way c32 with 185, headers, dcai, he, tune is pretty much maxed out. Any more performance mods would be a waste of money.

Agreed but what a fantastic little sedan with that combo huh? I think with those mods you're really getting all of the usable power you need anyway. Anything more and it would be lost trying to get it to the pavement. For me a C32 with power at 370ish WHP will provide real world, everyday driving top dog performance status. For the money you can't go wrong.
