question about a vacuum line

First of all what an interesting day. I changed the oil, not that bad a job, and changed the spark plugs, an all day job it seemed for me. Anyway this site definitely makes life easier, but now I have a mystery. On each side of the supercharger there is a metal cover with AMG on it. My covers had been painted and so I removed them and stripped them, I like the bare look better. I noticed on the driver side there is a small vacuum line near the fire wall, this line is about 3 or more feet long and snakes it's way through a grommet past the fuse box and lays there. It looks to be pre bent and I fed it through another grommet forward of the strut tower but doesn't seem to reach anything. I will post a picture if need be. I'm assuming that since it attaches to the bottom of the metal AMG peice it must go to a valve of some sort. I've plugged it off in the past and left it unplugged, I can't tell any difference nore do I hear an obvious hissing sound. Any ideas will be helpful.
