Did I put a diesel under the hood?
Hey all,
I just did the service B on the C55, including the oil change of course. Right after the change, the engine sounded like a diesel with lots of lifter noise - not horrendously loud or anything but definitely louder than normal. After a quick drive it went away but do I need to worry about anything due to this?

I remember reading that Mercedes started recommending dealers use a different oil viscosity/formulation for some AMGs. This, apparently, contributes to the noise you initially hear -- until the engine temperature rises that is. Mine does the same thing until it warms up. Perhaps someone can validate this further as I can't seem to find the article

That's interesting. The Germans accepting that they recommended the wrong product? Haha. To expand upon what I initially wrote, the car runs and idles fine with the same kind of power it has always had. But the tickover noise is all that was different, no check engine light, message, etc.

By any chance did you figure out what the viscocity change was? If it is as simple as that, I could just make the change at the next service I perform.
