C55 ESP Failure
C55 ESP Failure
I'd say about 70% of the time that I drive the car, i get the ESP malfunction that appears. Sometimes, it does not. Ive checked the ESP fuses and theyre all fine, but i still end up getting the message the majority of the time that I'm in the car. Does anyone have an idea of what this could be? Or has anyone elses C55 had this issue? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You're going to have to get the code read by someone with a DAS system or a high end scan tool to diagnose it! It could be any number of sensors or the module itself.

Yes, it will store the DTC(s) in history until the code has run it's test and passed so many times. I'm not sure how many that is on a Benz, but on a GM it's usually 50 ignition cycles.

does your car go into safe mode? if it does and then it reset itself when you turn off the car, its probably your throttle body. I had that problem when my throttle body was bad.
Thanks guys I appreciate the advice. I've been trying to find someone with star in the LA area. Don't wanna have to go to the stealership just to have codes scanned and cleared.

Is it the same thing for the SRS light and message? I had it come on in my E63 a few times and turn off after a few minutes. I don't feel like starting a new thread on the w211 AMG section. Can I still pull up the code where it's coming from even if the light is off?
I believe srs is stored until its cleared, even if the light somehow goes off. It's a scannable accessory system so I'd imagine that the code should still be there. I think my srs module is bad because I've had the message for that and the SOS. The only thing that makes sense is that the SOS light is on too because its hardwired to the srs module and is missing the crash signal data. I NEED star haha, gotta get these codes cleared before I sell the car

that makes sense. W203 AMG section helping out a W211 AMG member FTW!

yea i feel reluctant having a mechanic with STAR only a few blocks from my shop. i'm not worried about it at all, it's just troublesome seeing that red light with the ugly letters "SRS" come on and off sometimes. this started a few weeks ago too right after i washed my car. yea take care of any issues you have before you sell your car. it's definitely a breaking point for potential buyers seeing anything unusual like the ESP light on.
I'M STILL PISSED THE GUY WHO BOUGHT MY CAR NEVER GOES ON HERE!
he's made like two posts. he needs to get off the BMW forums, although he was spotted by a friend of mine in SF driving it around a few days ago.
