Best PC-based scantool/code reader?
I bought a PC-based scantool from Autoenginuity about a decade ago. It served me well when I had a 99 Mustang, 97 Camry, and 01 Odyssey. Those cars are long gone, and I currently have an 02 C32 & 07 Caddy SRX. Last weekend I tried hooking it up to the Caddy and discovered it couldn't pull the DTCs. I think the Caddy is using CAN. I emailed the company and they told me it would be $150+ S&H to upgrade my tool.
I've been satisfied with mine overall and will probably upgrade, but I wanted to check with this forum first to see if anyone else has used a different PC-based scantool. If so, what are your thoughts, how much was it, etc? I have no problem continuing to use the laptop for code-reading, but it would be a nice-to-have feature if the tool could also connect to a tablet (I have both iOS & Android) and a smartphone (Android). Are there any that use micro-USB connectors?
Just wanted to get other opinions/perspectives on this. Thanks.
