Turn signal out = draining battery!!!!????

Ok, so my passenger side side view mirror turn signal is having issues. It DOES work, but IDK if the connection inside the housing is bad or what cuz occasionally it'll work, and 20min later I'll go to use it and it tells me its not working...and to fix it usually, i just leave the turn signal on until it starts working again on its own, and then i turn it off...

This is a MAJOR problem because it is draining my battery for some reason when my car is off and I can't for the life of me understand why a "out bulb" would drain my battery.

I'm guessing its causing my ECU to stay on or something because I've noticed my LCD on the cluster is not turning off either after the car is off and even locked!

Anyone know what could be causing this!

PS I've even completely removed the housing to see if that would let the car go to sleep and the LCD is still staying lit giving the "bulb out" message!

I'm up to 5 complete drains in the last 2 months!

This sounds more like a seat control module failure that is draining your battery. Do a search on it and you will find DIY on how to fix it.

If the instrument cluster is staying on. Then its possible the cluster is bad or there is something keeping the CAN awake. Common things to keep the CAN awake are seat control modules and the overhead control panel. If you have access to a star system then run a quick test and see what faults you have. If not you can run a electrical draw test and see how many mA or A its drawing. It can take 20 min for the car to go to sleep and usually draw 20-40 mA.

lol thanks for the responses but again it's not the seat or control panel, its my turn signal!!!! I know this because my car hasn't died in over a week because my turn signal hasn't registered that it was "out." Thus I know the only thing keeping my ECU on is this turn signal thing...I only know one guy with a STAR thing and its been hit or miss on getting a meeting with him over the past several months...

Have you replaced it? Replaced it and clean the electrical contacts it plugs into.

havent replaced the housing yet since that is a bit expensive, but once I get back from the holidays I'm going to order the new arrow type and install that and see if that fixes it...

but ya I've cleaned the contacts and doused them with wd40 to keep water out and try and promote the conductivity! but still no shigrin, all though am happy to say it hasn't given me issues since the last time I pulled it off and slammed it back on, lol
