Winter tire questions...help!

So I am a dummy when it comes to wheels and tires and figment.

I wanna get winter tires and a guy I know has 235 50 18s for sale.

I have 225s in front and 235 rears so they are staggered but will those fit?

Rears will be ok but what about the 235s where 225s are? any problems?

Thanks in advance.

235 with 50 profile will not work. You should not use higher than 40 with 235, at least in my experience.

Yeah fronts wont work. The only way you can get the 235 to work on the 18" wheel is have a profile no bigger than 35 according to Continentals tire selector guide.

Check this out:
http://tireselector.conti-online.com/selector.php

It helps me when looking for tires and sizes. Personally for winter I went with Conti-DWS's and I had to go +1 for the rears.

Front:
225/40/18

Rear:
255/35/18

But then again I don't have to drive to work or in the snow / ice.. Wife does so she got Bridgestone Blizzak WS70's. So far so good.

And I'm not sure you'll be ok with that that rear tire size. I'd suggest to tirerack it up and just get the right sizes. I view tires as part of the safety of the car.. so I don't go cheap on these things.

For example.. I'm saving up for new wheels and tires. And by the time spring comes around I'll be putting on new shoes for the summer / fall. Michelin Pilot Super Sport's to be exact..

yeah i figured the 50s wouldnt be good for it. i have 40s on there now all seasons but want a dedicated winter. Going with blizzacks this week but friend had these and thought they might work.

Thanks for advice!

I hate wheels/tires/suspensions. after having an audi allroad with wack *** suspension/tire issues, i just despise that part of any car. lol
