2003 C32
I have had my C32 for about a month, and I love it, best car I have owned. BMW in the past. Mine has a pulley, tune, delete, and runs very strong.

The interior of C55 is nicer, C32 much easier to MOD and is easier on gas than the modded C55 (Kleemann). Pulley and tune for C32 and you're easily into the 12s in qtr mile. NOT so with the 5.4 engine in the C55 and it take much more $$$ to make it fast!! Tune does NOT work for C55 despite tunes I've seen to contrary. Only way to properly tune a C55 is to replace the ECM (from an E55) on it. Newer C32s (03/04) do NOT leak into radiator as this was fixed early on.
Tune does work, I Can tell you from my experience car felt faster and smokes tires, before I could not unless I use brakes. There are c55 with tune and headers running 12s as well, sure to break 12s u need supercharger on c55, c55 has more potential than c32, when it comes to handling, hands down c55 is leaps ahead, my c32 felt sloppy stock, after coil overs sure it was much better, stock for stock, c55 suspension is perfect for daily/track, just need stickier rubber and LSD.

How is the C55 transmission? I found the C32 shifted too slow for my liking and it would often be in the wrong gear at the wrong time. Have they made any improvements in the programming and shift times? Do the C55 shift buttons start in 5th gear and go down from there like the C32 (really annoying)?

Transmission is smarter also it has sport, comfort and manual which lets u stay u gear u want it will not shift even at redline, this is the mode I use with c63 paddles( stock shifters are buttons which I didn't like)

a land yacht.
I say if youre looking to mod it, C32. But if you are looking to keep it stock, C55. The C55 is an all around better car, from interior to exterior styling and overall feel, its all better.

Thanks for that. Sport mode is what the C32 was missing, an auto mode where it holds the gears a bit longer.

Just for example say you are cruising along in auto at 20 mph in say 3rd gear- when you flick down a gear using the steering wheel buttons would it go to 2nd? or is it like the C32 side shift thing where it always goes down from 5th unless you hold it all the way to the left?
