WTF?!?!

Just typed a long-*** update, shut out by MBWorld. Dunno why, but not typing it again!

Sorry Guys.

F/U MBWorld. I f**ing hate you right now!!!!

Synopsis:
All-new O2 sensors eliminated CEL for no cats up until now (400+miles), will update if anything changes.

F/U MBWorld

Thermatic-toThermotronic retrofit worked 100%, p/n I used for the replacement unit: A 203 830 33 85. P/N for C55 Thermatic factory unit: A 203 830 37 85; best of luck to those who try!

F/U MBWorld

EGR replacement went well, but no change to idle issues. EGR was dirty as F**K, but seemed to work correctly with vacuum tests. EGR pipe was apparently clean as well. I need to get STAR DAS asap; the StarTek DVD is good, but VERY lacking... Wondering if my issue is the manifold pressure sensor? Will let all of you know...

F/U MBWorld.

After trying to encourage my Dad otherwise, (You'd ALL understand if MBWorld didn't suck...) I'm having the dealer check out the idle issue and do the engine/trans mounts. Oh, BTW, F/U MBWorld!

Can you guys tell I hate doing things twice lol?

Motor and trans mounts in, huge difference

P0400 DTC for the EGR is gone, guess it needed time to adapt?

All that's left is the P0102 MAF code. Got the DAS printouts, Tech thinks I may have installed a bad replacement MAF. Beyond that, I'm going to check the MAF harness and inspect the intake AGAIN for leaks. I hope I find something, the Tech mentioned a remote possibility of a bad ECM

First replacement was Bosch but not from the dealer, the one that works is from the dealer. same p/n for the MAF insert for both.

installed my pulleysetup today..
Had big issues with the big pulley on hydraulicpump.

The 'play' was way to tight to just use a hydraulic press to press it on.
It was over 0.2mm pressurefit.
No way i could have mounted it in enginebay with pump still located on engine.

Had to take the pump off and work in my vise.
I honed the pulley up to 0.05mm pressurefit, heated up the pulley to about 200 degree celsius and loctited the shaft on pump.

*plop* it went on really smooth, and will probably never be able to unmount it again

Check up the measurements, is my advice before trying to press it on.

Hey guys, it's been a while but work has been all-consuming...

I got lucky and picked up a pair of SLK55 030 rear calipers from fellow member cm60k (thanks Zayed!). I haven't really decided if I'll throw them on before I get the matching 6 pot fronts, so for the short-term it'll be another item on the to-be-installed list. For now, I'll be stripping them for paint. I'm having second thoughts about the color though. I was going to paint them VHT burnt copper to match my valve covers, but now I'm thinking maybe do both in VHT Fire Red...or, maybe not lol. Decisions, decisions.

One thing I did make a decision about: I decided to go for the OCarbon trim. The problem is, I actually really like the Birdseye trim too and wouldn't even entertain the idea of sanding it down to be wrapped. So, I bought black door panels from a C32, center console trim from a post-facelift W203, and since I had the opportunity, a double-din radio install kit Matching carbon-fiber for the surround will look SO much better when I ditch the Command. In addition to the door trim, I sent the door-handle pockets to extend the CF accent all the way to the front of the leather insert...should look pretty nice.

Since I have the door panels anyway, I'm ordering a sample chart for Unisuede to see what the color-matching will be like in order to experiment with wrapping the spare door panels. Winter project maybe...

Just picked up 2 new rear tires...the driver rear was down to the cords! I really need to get the Wavetrac installed and not be so aggressive with the off ramps lol. Eurocharged is opening up a full-service location in DC, so I'll be checking with them to see if they can do TCU tunes for gear swaps in house or if your TCU still has to go to Texas...I've heard some issues with gear swaps in the E55 section, so getting things worked out relatively locally would be a plus!

I'm still having MAF codes but I'll have some time to do some troubleshooting within the next few weeks. Emissions too, so I'll be getting the cats fabbed up as well.

When I get the trim in or the calipers painted I'll check in again

Thanks for the heads-up Patrick, fingers crossed that mine isn't that difficult!

Thank you both, I'm still a long way away from where I want her to be, but I am starting to feel like I'm making some progress

A few things to add...got the rear tires changed today. I'd say I got my money's worth I'll throw up a pic later, won't let me upload now for some reason.

Also, I finally got my Dad behind the wheel and threw a vid up on Youtube...I think he loves her more than me lol. He used to street race his '55 Chevy in his much younger days and is the source of my addiction
I still laugh every time I watch this

ya nice...i just had to replace my front right for splitting at the edge from our "sport" camber that is set on these tires and while it was under they found that my rears were bald exactly in the middle to the effect of you could see the metal cord in one spot (although i still think it was a nail ground down) and so I ended up replacing all 4 with michelin super sports...

I also did the 6/4 upgrade and bought them painted hot rod red with white AMG caliper stickers and then clear coated on top of that...looks sweet on my all black C55...I also did a custom sl55 intake that I painted black with red AMG decals on the airboxes.

What color is your C55? I think the burnt orange would look good or banana yellow with black AMG decals

Alabaster White, see pics below, but with a CF diffuser and Carlsson-style spoiler. I really don't take enough pictures.

Sucks that we burn through tires so fast, but personally it's a price I have no issue paying lol.

Along with the 6/4 upgrade I'm thinking 18" satin or gloss black TSW Nurburgrings. I'd go for Forgestar CF5V's, but they're only available down to 19" and I've already cracked a 19" TSW Bremma on the crappy roads I drive for work sometimes. I'll order them in matt bronze and see how I like it for a while, but will probably have them painted or powder coated shortly after I get them. Hoping the rotary forging and extra sidewall available by dropping to 18"s will alleviate the pothole issue!

For the caliper lettering, I'm torn between the white and black lettering, but leaning towards black. I've seen your calipers in your build thread and the white on red is indeed sweet...along with everything else you have done Your 'mod-to-time of ownership' ratio is off the charts my friend

In other news, I received the Unisuede, suede headliner and carpet samples...will try to take and post some pics in the next few days

What width and offset are you thinking for the TSW Nurburgrings? Also do you think with the larger brakes your current DR setup will still fit?

lol thanks man...well lets see with an alabaster white car I would personally stick to a little bit of a darker color under the rim to let it stand out. But those black rims would look nice!

18x8.5 et 32 front, 18x9.5 et 53 with an 18 or 20mm hub-centric spacer on the rear most likely. It's going to be a tight fit if it works with the 16" DR setup, but if not no worries, the Sparco wheels are available in 17" and I'd have to pick up new DR's in the not-so-distant future anyway.

Yeah, I'm second guessing the burnt copper after seeing the Fire red above. I'm probably going to do a trial run in red when I have the time to finish stripping the calipers...

Got a few pics from Matt @ oCarbon , door trim is clear coated already, the rest you see is ready to be cleared. The aftermarket head unit should integrate MUCH better than just plain black plastic. I sent the door handle surrounds to be skinned as well to extend the trim all the way to the front of the door, so they're doing that now. Should be shipping in a week or so, can't wait!!
