Thanks for the input. I unfortunately don't have any room to drop the price any more at this point. Car is getting a lot of interest, just haven't found a serious buyer yet.

You guys are kind of brutal here. You may have meant well, but I don't think it will necessarily take a sucker to buy this car. Private party value is $12,800 and retail is $14650. I am trying to end up around the middle of the two. I see C32s sell for close to retail quite often, and this one is a really clean example. Here are a few others just for quick reference. I don't mean any disrespect, but if you don't think my price is fair, don't buy it. You don't have to publicly announce that you think it's too much. I would rather see people wishing each other luck and encouraging people with their sales. I guess I just expected more positive thinking from the forum.

Actually, that isn't at all what I think. What I think is that I really enjoy this car and I don't want to sell it. Since my wife decided to divorce me after 9 years, I don't have much choice. If I don't sell it I will have to file for bankruptcy, So i think I better lower the price as fast as I can. Otherwise more of my life will go to ****. So I made a couple extra payments toward principle, and dropped the price to what the payoff amount is. I will continue to drop the price with every payment I can make on the car. Unfortunately, thanks to the divorce, I am also out of extra money, so extra payments wont be happening any more. the price will likely go down only $100-$200 a month from here on. Thank you for telling me what I think though. Very nice of you.

Besides that, I also wouldn't post on someone's for sale ad, telling them that their price is too much. There a kind of common courtesy I try to have. If I don't like the price, I keep it to myself. I might tell the guy "nice car, good luck with sale". Telling him it's too much on his ad could hurt the chances of him selling it to someone else that doesn't think the price is too high. I don't understand why people feel like they have to announce that they don't like a price. Like I said, if you don't like the price, don't buy the car. If you want the car, make me an offer and I will accept or decline.

I feel for ya man but the hard truth is these cars arent worth much...
For example a Mitsubishi Evo sold for half the cost of a C32 brand new and to this day still has substantially higher resale value than the c32. The worst condition M3 will hold its value over the best kept C32. Note that they only made 400 or so black C32s for the US Market.
If it's in excellent condition, i would offer $11.5K tops. When i sold my C32 the private party value was over 17K and i sold for just over $ 13.5K (it was paid off) and i didnt need to sell but no one was going to pony up that much coin. There is no way you could ask for more money for a two year older car with more miles and almost bone stock.
Most interested buyers were tire kickers and i refused to let them drive it until they showed cash. One guy came from a Camry and i said absolutely no way. If people havent learned to drive a high horsepower car, they are not going to learn with mine. I also kept a binder full of receipts and logged them in chronological order.

a car that can't do the throttle reset.
Good luck with your sale and situation. I feel for you. For the sake of keeping more of the riff raff that has shown up with our civic priced 32's, I hope it sells super high.

What you don't realize is that we're not being negative, we're being realistic. Just like your real life friends (not us forum folks), they are going to give you advice whether negative or positive. That's what good people are supposed to do, give you the truth on certain situations to help get you the best answer.

I understand that, and thank you all for your constructive opinions. I just want to be clear that the thread is titled as a car for sale, not "how much do you think my car is worth?". I never asked what anyone thought my car could sell for. I just thought that it would be nice to open the market up to mbworld to see if anyone here wanted to pay my asking price. The thing that I don't like, is that there could have been someone reading this thread, thinking "that's exactly what I've been looking for!" but then could be swayed from buying it because of all of the comments saying that it is overpriced. I'm not saying that did, or even will happen. I just know that when I see a car for sale and I think it's overpriced. I do feel like telling the guy that it's too much, but I don't post that on his ad because I want to be careful not to hurt his chances of selling. I would prefer to pm a suggestion, or just keep it to myself if I'm not interested in buying. I understand that some of you may not agree, and that's okay. Thank you all for your good intentions of helping me with my pricing.
