is it normal?
sometimes when I'm on the freeway I get this occational opening where I can just floor the gas pedal. I found out that if I floor the gas, but don't depress the kickdown buttom it only downshift to 4th and it doesn't even try to redline when shifting to 5th. When I depress the kickdown buttom it downshifts to third and redline through each gear. This is going around 80-85mph when I floored it.
just wondering if the same case happened to you guys, or is it just mine.

For some reason, my car seems to downshift to the lowest possible gear whenever I floor it (without pressing the kickdown). I noticed this because everytime it downshifts, I then press the kickdown immediatly, however, no change occures.

Maybe you weren't hitting the throttle as hard in 4th so the auto tranny decided to switch gears prematurely. I would just tap the speedshift 2 gears down (assuming you are in 5th) and ride it all the way to redline (which it should do). Or use the kickdown and let the tranny decide the lowest gear to use.
