Want to upgrade to Command need help
Well I have been slowly upgrading the C55 and am not to the radio. Mine is not a premium sound system and do not have the BT plug in center console. I really would like to get MP3 capability along with blue tooth and nav. I have been trying to figure out what all I need. I want to keep the factory look and integration with gauge cluster/ SW controls. I have been doing some research and checked out this website (http://www.mercupgrades.com/W203+C-class-7.html) but am still confused as hell. From what I gather the HU I want is a APS unit and will need antenna but what all else? Anybody in Florida that can point me to a dealer that has experience or at this point anybody I can contact to get this sorted out would be great!

Comand is only the nav part. You don't want the APS unit, you want the MCS II unit. Check ebay and yards for units. They are plug and play; no additional coding needed. I don't believe MP3 was available in the Comand headunits - I believe they only became available in the 2006+ models, but I don't remember if it was inside the headunit itself or in the CD changer in the glove box. For bluetooth, you will need an additional plug in module; I don't remember the part number but the factory one is not cheap. I think there's an aftermarket one out there.

its an easy plug and play. Just pic one up from eBay or someone sometimes sells them on the forum. I would recommend the european one because you can add video/dvd/camera etc.
midcityengineering makes iTronic which installs under the glovebox and connects to the MOST system. It has BT and iPod control via the CD changer. It's a great system and integrates with both cluster and headunit with no errors. Much cheaper than OEM.

So I just need a MCS II headunit (preferably from a europe) and then get the midcity engineering Bluetooth/ Ipod interface? No gps antenna? I thought the headunit was just the controller and held the Nav DVD but you still had to have a separate control unit in the trunk. I assume I have to buy the Nav DVD as well right? I am pretty car/electronics savvy so is this something I can install myself?
Sorry for all the questions guys. I really have been doing a bunch of research on this. Trying to get it right the first time and not get too stupid with the $.
Thanks

MCSII is the north american market, APS is the european. They're slightly different in features. Also, the NA market maps DVD will not work in the APS. You'll have to get a special made disc and hope it works (some on here have been successful). You can pickup a cheap GPS antenna on ebay to plug into the unit.

My command plays MP3. With the phone you need completely different hardware and it's not dependent on command it works with the regular radio that's why it has the phone buttons. If you have a Blue label CD changer in the glovebox it will also play MP3s.
