Cylinder misfires at track yesterday!
So yesterday I strolled over to Great lakes dragaway for some 1/4 runs. Nice 50-60 degree day and my car is running great! I'll post the time slips below. Anyways, ran a couple times and my buddy and I were about to leave, but I just couldn't resist making one more pass!
Anyways I launch fine and as I'm switching to third, I all of a sudden go in limp mode and my cars CEL not only turns on but is blinking for about 5 minutes before it stays on solid. It's almost as if the back felt bumpy and brakes felt weird only right after it happened. I turned off car for a sec and turned it back on and it felt normal. Drove it and gave it a little gas and it was boosting and everything. So after about 20 minutes of normal driving (CEL still on), I decide to give it WOT. Happens again goes into limp at really high rpm. Turn off car and back on and its normal to drive all the way home as long as I don't redline.
Checked codes w/ OBD2 and it has 3 codes:
cylinder 6 misfire detected
cylinder 2 misfire detected
random/multiple misfires detected
I am really hoping I just blew the spark plugs, as I haven't switched them since I got the car. Car was running its best times ever too! Any help on the matter would be appreciated!

My Cylinder 2 misfires at hard acceleration, but under normal driving I get no misfire at all. I think it might be the coil pack. My wires and plugs have 60k miles, could also be them. I'm going to try switching coil packs to see if it follows it.

Drove for like 30min no problems. Didn't seem like the car was in limp mode, but I didn't give it hard gas either. Check engine light never came back. If I have time i'll try to data log* some numbers later.

Your issue sounds different. My misfire did not go away until I replaced the cams. Maybe you had a lean condition. How is your fuel pressure and did you ever serviced your fuel injectors?

I unfortunately only have the data logging w/ euroflash v2, but I did have my AFR's checked out during my dyno pull. AFR's seem to be right where they are stock at the higher RPMs. Not sure if I've had injectors changed, at least not in a while. What kind of tests can I do to check if they are ok?

How many miles do you have? Have you change plugs and wires yet? My issue occurred after I installed headers and I had to remove the coil packs and wires to do the job. It may be due to the heat of the headers on the wires or it could be a bad coil pack. Either way check your plugs and wires.
I'm in for updates if you discover the issue to your problem.

Tomorrow I'll put them in. Hopefully everything goes well.

So I switched spark plugs early June and things were going ok. I went to the track today in excitement due to Pansu blazing an 12.3....anyways first two runs I can't get annnny grip. third run I'm having an awesome run, probably 12.8ish @110ish and boom blinking check light in 4th. Read codes and what do you know. Random misfires, cylinder 2 misfire and cylinder 6 misfire!
Anyways tomorrow I'll check the plug etc, but what tests should I have the mechanic do? I wish I had a catalog system that checks AFR....Should I check injectors, coils? Help me out guys, all that knuckle busting and same result!

You could have your tech do a comp/leakdown on those cyls for peace of mind. Did you switch coil packs to see if the condition moved?

I'd say lean condition with injector issues.
Are you datalogging anything??

inspect the plugs..check for gap and to see if they're fouled. If they're not fouled it could be you're running lean on those cylinders. Fouled would be black soot and lean would be white powder. I know in the mustang world tuners would have to add fuel to cylinders closest to the boost bypass valve on Kenne Bell cars as it could cause a lean condition on those cyls.

Car runs fine WOT one or 2 gears, its just when doing longer runs at the track I'm guessing. I'm going to check up on everything soon. I just wish I had a data logging system that checks AFR. I've only been able to check AFR's at the dyno and it's only 3rd gear. I would love to get a really good dyno tune done where they tune AFR's in every gear etc, but I don't know a reliable place to do it here in Milwaukee. Maybe Chicago?
On the run where CEL came on I had an 87mph+ 1/8 mile trap and a 1.995 60ft . Ended up 13.2@90 mph.

That's what I'm thinking too. I only have ability to datalog w/ Eurocharge's system which doesn't check AFR's. I really really need to get a zeitronix Wideband zt-2. When I replaced plugs I remember them all having a slight white tip and one of them had a little oil on it more on outside tho I think. It was cylinder 3 though I'm pretty sure. Maybe it was two though. I'll post pics and info when I pull them out.

I had a 3 cylinders misfire on mine going uphill WOT. I believe it could have been from consuming coolant for quite some time, it was the flag for me to finally give it a tear down and am in process of getting the Rudy intercooler in!

What did you look for to see if you were consuming coolant? My stock intercooler has been on there for a while so I wonder how it's doing.

Slowly consumes coolant to the point it throws a coolant low message on the dash. You can crack open your intake manifold runners and look for the green goopy stuff, do a search and you'll find what it looks like.

I had Speedriven replace mine two years ago in Il. I was consuming coolant.....
I still think its fueling issues.............stock injectors can only do so much!

I had a leaking intercooler too. No difference in power and difficult to detect. The best way to know is remove an upper intake manifold. You will see some goo if it's leaking.
