How do i get behind the ashtray?
i want to setup a panel of switches in the ashtray so when you flipup the cover all the buttons are right there.....so whats the trick gettin behind this sucker

Easy, 5 min.
From memory, so this is the basic idea:
Put car in Neutral, stop engine and and set the brake
Loosen the silver shift boot ring, [by pulling up]
Loosen the fake CF surrounding the shifter [start at the front and pull straight up, slide the rear sectoin forward at the end]
Rotate and remove the fake CF surround past and over the shifter boot.
The complete ashtray assembly is held in place by two tabs.
The outer tabs (facing horizontally) pull them back towards the rear of the car and remove ashtray. This is where you need Neutral.
