c32amg vs. new cla45amg

I've seen various test with it running 4.4-4.8 to 60 and low 13s in the quarter so word of the W203s demise is greatly exaggerated. They all do say that its the best handling AMG ever though. I am going to get one, BUT will not be an early adopter. AWD is a plus. The Turbo boost is almost maxed OUT without doing any more internal mods, so I doubt that we'll see much from tuning there??

Really can't wait to see the owner timeslips- feeling low 13s on the CLA in stock form.
I will be shocked to see times south of 12.8~

C32 AMG, C240, 380SE, 280SE
Hell, I've met a Nissan GT-R from virtually standstill. .....hit 150km/h and my C32 is still with it before traffic spoils the party! Like someone said earlier in this thread, alot of cars need a series of "make me go faster" buttons pushed before it actually does! I lose about a car bonnet length to a Porsche Panamera Turbo from around 70km/h to around 220km/h. I will get a 45 on the road, will be interesting to see......just hope it's stock!

I am not sure the GTR owner would really care. Just as him for a rematch, he will press the buttons and do 0-100 in 2.8 seconds. New, better stuff comes out all the time. The challenge is to just be happy with what you have, or have heaps of money.

Here you go CLA45 AMG 1/4 mile in 12.8 @ 108mph

I think its a interesting car, but why compare a c32 to the cla45? You can have a c32 for 10-15g's and have comparable performance to that of the cla45 which will run you 60 grand. Seems like a no brainer to me in that aspect. why fork over 45 grand more for negligible performance gains? Plus the fact that its already putting out 26psi to get to those numbers so in order to get more out of that set up you'd be most likely looking at a bigger turbo set up, or stroking the motor out which would both cost waaay more money than pulleying a c32.
I'd rather drop 35 grand and get into a c63 than a cla45 any day of the week. I' sure the cla45 will be worth talking about in a couple of years when you can have one for 1/2 the msrp and tuning has been working out on them, but till then I think i'll stick with the 32/55.

The CLA 45 fills in a niche left by the C63 going upmarket in price and performance.
I think the C32 and CLA45 are very similar in that aspect,
Both cars were entry level AMGs.
Both cars maybe attract the same type of crowd.
Both cars have similar performance, the CLA a tad bit faster.
Same size interior? Maybe....
However the C32 was never advertised as heavily as the CLA45. In fact you only knew about the C32 in magazines or the dealership.
I assume the CLA will be a volume car like the C63 where the C32 was a 1000 car or less per year.
In any event i do believe the next C Class will attempt to move upmarket in size and cost like the A4 and 3 Series and will be more boring than it is now. The CLA i believe is designed to compete with the 1 series, Volvo S40, and Audi A3 sedan and capture that ever important entry level luxury market.

If I had to go AWD I would probably get a b8 or b8.5 audi s4. Runs about 13.0 @107ish, but I'd rather have a v6 supercharged than a 4cyl turbo. I've seen s4's w/ chip/pulley/ tune run high 11s-low 12s.
Still, that same s4 that runs high 11s will still most likely get overtaken by a stock to mildly modded e55 off a roll. Hell I think a 360ish RW HP c32 would be right there with one off a roll.
Point is it's hard to compare 1/4 mile times of these new AWD cars to older RWD cars. A lot of these AWD lightning fast quarters are miss leading. I would love to see magazines do 50-120 mph times!

Really??? because I saw a vid of the CLA45 doing exactly what my C32 does?? (and I ran that 12.7 on street tires, NOT DRs!!) Destroy is a pretty finite word.......................
