Seriously, my last fill-up was 14.3 mpg. All city, but not really stop and go. I struggle to get 16 mpg around town.

My experience is with my CLK55 amg, for the engine and amount of power it has the fuel consumption is not bad at all its actually pretty good unless you go full throttle all the time. It not a Prius remember ??

I got 13mpg with my first tank with the CLK55, pretty good I think... compared to a barge. Haven't done highway yet.

If I were in a similar situation i would get C63, 211 E63 or 211/212 E550 in that order. I think the E550 looks like a really good value for money car, just need to forget about the amg badge as pointman pointed out. I'm not sure anyone really cares that much about fuel economy here? I am more concerned with how often I need to go the petrol station simply because its annoying and never on the way to anywhere I am going.

Why NOT just an 02 C32 with a leaky radiator mixing into the trans fluid???

From pure driving experience with everything working correctly it is.

That is certainly classed as a catastrophic failure but I would find it difficult to believe it affects more than a couple of percent of C63's. I think anyone here who wanted one would get a mid 2010 and later to avoid the headbolt possibility. Its strange that the E63 although affected doesn't seem to suffer nearly the same amount.

I've never actually driven the C63, but sitting in one I found my C55 felt more comfy. I've heard its a lot harder edged, but doesn't that lose the dual personality appeal of the C55?

a car that can't do the throttle reset.
I heard you need a blowout and pencil thin beard to own a c63.

Even if those AMG cars have big engines, if you drive economically you will get good mileage for the fuel you put in.
I already sold the CLK and the C320 back in 2006-2007.

I only have a SUV and the SL300 (only because my parents didnt want it anymore and sold it to me super cheap and its in great shape).

I work from home, so... no commute. I only drive about 4-5 times a month. So whatever else I buy, I will just drive it for fun

Aha well if your only looking for a fun car i would say go for a convertible amg , i know your list doesnt have any convertibles but believe me when the top is down in almost any AMG car the experience is super awesome, my car sounds awesome when i open the top.

If you want to stick to your list here, i suggest you go with a C63 amg and a simple eurocharged ECU tune when you get it, ull have around 530bhps then and a car that is a lot more fun than the others on your list.

I would recommend the C55 for all the reasons you mentioned, especially an easier maintenance schedule. I just bought a "high" mileage C55 with an impeccable maintenance record from a single owner. The car had 74k miles when I bought it in February and I just turned 80K. It has strong performance, gets 19.5 MPG for my mostly 60 mile round trip daily work commute...in traffic, and has been super easy on maintenance. All I've done so far - tranny flush and a slightly early B inspection for peace of mind.

Ill do plugs very soon and replace the valve covers which as of now are not leaking. Most of the things you need to worry about: crank position sensor, valve covers, tranny mounts/flush, motor mounts. The rest is pretty easy. Fast, reliable daily driver. I started looking for an E55 before the C but fuel tank sender issues, airmatic, supercharger, and other concerns kept me away. For every-day real world use, the C is performance enough. For now! :-)

E55 AMG
The C55 is 90% of what the C63 is for 50% of the price.

I'd tend to agree, but if you plan on modding for more power the C63 is a much better platform to start with. Way more parts available and much better results with said parts.

In terms of what? I love my 203 32 AMG, but lets get real here. And this is coming from me.. someone who dislikes the C63 and laughs at the majority of meatballs who own them.

As are most AMGs of the era.

In terms of the car you get. The C63 does have the superior transmission and that brutal 6.2 which is more aggressive than the 5.5. However, the rest of the car in terms of the interior and the styling etc is not superior. (pre-facelift c63 in this case).

I agree with mozis, and not just because I have a 55. The car is absolutely gorgeous with the CLK nose and I love the sound it makes w/o secondaries. Its plenty strong enough to get you into trouble and there are far fewer on the road than the 63s. I'll still maintain that I prefer the interior to the newer cars as well.
I still can't believe I got mine last year with 43k miles, well south of $20grand

How about CLK63 Black Series??

Out of that list, I would go with C63 for sure. The airmatic on W211 is enough to turn me away.
