DIY: Key Battery Replacement
I was driving today and noticed that my dash informed me to replace the battery in my key.
Materials: New battery (CR2025 3v) and small blade.
Here are the directions:
Step 1. Pull the grey lever to the right and pull out the L shaped key.
Step 2.
Step 3. Turn the key to the back side and insert the Key into the left side.
This will press out the back key cover.
Step 4. Take a blade and pull out the battery.
Step 5. Install the new battery and replace the cover. Then reinsert the key.

I don't think you ever could with a C32 or C55. As you know, our cars came with the dorky plastic piece of junk (back in the day), shown with the updated chrome key:
Both the older plastic and the chrome keys opened with the key caddy sliding out of the key. You still use the blade to push the release but, at the same time, you need to pry the caddy out of the body.
I don't know if the E Classe uses a pop of key or what is going on there.
