New 2005 C55 owner Console Question

Hi!

I'm a new owner of a 2005 C55 and loving it so far. Not really a Car Girl (yet) but this vehicle may convert me.

Center Console--first it was mucked up and the side buttons weren't aligned right and the whole lid came off. Finally got it back on and it opens nicely from each side now.

But--the center button does nothing. Isn't there additional storage underneath the little felt lined storage that opens from each side (with the "i" and the wrench buttons)? Also, I think you can raise/lower the armrest and the manual says to use that button. Can't get that to work at all.

Just want to verify if the lid is supposed to open up completely in addition to the side to side open and if there is more storage underneath there.

Thanks for any help!

Welcome! Yes the center button in the front opens the bigger cubby hole underneath the top little area. It sounds like something might still be jammed up with your side buttons - I believe if they're not fully "clicked in", it won't allow the bottom to move. I think.

There was a campaign or dealer fix for lose and erratic functioning arm rest covers. The bulletin is attached.

Thank you! I messed with it a bunch yesterday--side buttons seem to be ok and working--I can get to the top portion from either side. But that center one is completely useless. Cannot open the bottom portion at all. Quite worried I will break it completely if I force it.

My center latch doesn't have a lock like the document shows, but perhaps a new latch would fix it. going to see a new mechanic this week--I may ask him if he knows anything about it.

Thanks so much for the help and document download.

Congrats on your new C55!!
Glad to hear you are learning your way around the car so quickly. I just found that the rear seat armrest has cup holders- and I've had the car over two years...

LOL I really need to spend some quality time with the manual. But gosh, I love this car so far!

I've already spent a good deal of time checking out this forum and am so impressed with the info and the things y'all do. I only understand about half of what I read so far, but am working to figure it all out. I wish I had more knowledge and guts because I think I could spend whole weekends tinkering around if I had half a clue.

Thanks for the welcome and the help!

AMGVice welcome to the forum! You will learn a lot from us, that's for sure. We've all been through quite a lot with this car and are glad to help.
