So... curious... did the shop do this work while the pipes were still attached to the car? I confess, I am no welder and this may be an odd question... if done as shown in the pics... with the pipes still on.. how do they weld the very top portions of the pipes? I take it there is there enough clearance to do the weld solidly and properly at the very top of the pipes?

I am considering doing this as I think a little more rumble would be interesting.

Another question ... if you can do this for say $250 at 'any' muffler shop (is this true?) what does it cost to reverse it? What is the cost to buy new parts to put it back OEM? Are we talking $1000 to have a shop put in new cats and such to get it back to original?

Now the reason for the question.. lets say I do the mod, I love it and my wife hates it...she after all drives much different than I do.

Now another option... what do the experts here think of doing variable exhaust? The attractive part of this option is that drivers (me and alternatively the mrs) can pick the sound which they like. Does any one have any experience with variable exhaust on a C32?

Thanks for thoughts..

No secondary cats removal legal in CA?

Question is...is this legal in CA to remove secondary cats? I just picked up a Magnaflow 18129 and 4 out of 5 shops won't do the secondary cat delete.

none... for now
For once, CA law doesn't matter. By USA law, tampering or even moving a functioning cat, even one already downstream, is illegal and you and a shop can be fined for it...

If an inspection station/officer cares to enforce it that is.

Or has any clue what he is looking for. Evey time they lift the hood on my care the smog tech gets this glassy eyed confused look and pretends to look around. I bet I could have a Chevy 350 in there and they would not notice.

Yeah I think it all depends on the inspection station because I deleted everything and didn't fail, but that's Jersey. *Knock on wood

That happened to me too when I went to do the dual conversion. Those shops are just protecting their-selves in case you fail inspection and then say "so and so did the deleting". Try to avoid muffler shops and go to an aftermarket performance place, I went to one of the local eurocharged dealers and they did it no problem

Oh nice, how much did they charge?
Car is at the shop getting the primary cats removed for test pipes but will like the secondary cats for back pressure.

Word nice!! Removing those primaries + headers is gonna be a nice gain the primaries are so restrictive. I think it was 150, you running y-pipe or x-pipe?

Yeah, I was originally going for an X pipe but then I saw your set up and I could knock 3 birds with one stone by having that as an x pipe and mufflers for the quad
