Audi S4 for now.....
need some advise..

Hello,

I am considering purchasing a "new" '04 C32 from dealer stock. The car however has 5K miles on it (I was told the car was a demo) which makes me hesitant on pulling the trigger on the purchase. the car does look pretty clean on the outside, but then again who knows how bad it's been dogged...

My question to you guys, how much would a fair offer be for a C32 with this many miles on it?

Thanks for your responses,

Try to get it for a few thousand below invoice. Maybe try to get the extended warranty thrown in as well

If the sticker said something like $56K, I'd be looking to get it for $48K or less with the Starmark Certification. Throw an offer of $45K out there and start negotiating up from that figure if need be.

Honesty, I wouldnt buy it. IMO a car like this needs to be broken in carefully. But I really doubt anyone would drive below 3000 rpm in a demo car. After all, people wanna know how it rolls..

There are different schools of thought on the best way to break in an engine. Some people say gently some people comment that the cross hatch patteren on the cylinder walls lasts only for a short time so you should not be gentle.

Of course if you are really worried about break in I would change in the oil a couple of times in the first 1000 or so miles to remove all the contaminantes.

As far as what a good price is start looking around for what similar cars go for. There are plenty of websites to buy cars from/through. I would check not just the 2004 but also late 2003's with similar mileage.
