Tire rubbing after servicing
He All,
I recently changed my motor and trans mounts and now the front left tire hits the plastic in the wheel well. It only does it on the drives side and only in one spot about 2/3 down and right in the middle. I replaced some retaining clips that have not been there since purchase with no change even though it brought the liner about a 1/4 to 1/2 in closer to the bumper. It is odd to me that this just start happening. The car was on a lift but it was a drive on lift so the tire were under load the entire time.
The control arm bushings appear to be in good shape too. Could sway bar movement have caused this?

That seems like an aggressive amount of movement. What size wheel/tire setup are you running? Is it when your turning, braking, or just consistently when your driving? Your liner may just be not reinstalled correctly. There are only a handful of clips, screws, and plastic nut fasteners to hold them in. If you don't have all the fasteners on it wouldn't hurt to pick some up and just throw them in, cant be more than a 15-20 minute job to jack the car up and pop the wheel off. If you need a quick fix to stop it from trashing your liner you can heat it up and bend the liner away from the tire in the area its contacting.

I am running stock wheels with 225/40/18 rubber. I didn't remove that part of the cover and I replaced the missing. Iit only happens when I am moving forward and turning to the right.

So more info. This is an odd problem and I beginning to wonder if it a tire rub or something different. It noise only happens when moving forward from a hard launch or turning right. I also inspected the front suspension and it appears that the sway bar has been bent up. I am getting new tires and wheels on Tuesday and am going to have them take a look around too.
