Hi all

After my remap at eurocharged yesterday they suggested a few mods that I'm looking into doing one of which is a simple fitting of an external transmission cooler in place of the stock set up.

I've found a couple of coolers one bigger than the other and I'm unsure what one would be better, can over cooling the transmission oil have adverse effects on the performance of the box so with that in mind what size cooler would work best one of these or another one altogether?

U have right idea, I went with a b&m one its black and the fins are stronger less likely to be squished. If u have a newer rad u shouldn't have to worry abt coolant going in trans. If u want it to run better get tcu tune, we out external trans cooler cause the coolant leaking into trans.

Thanks,

I'm carrying out the mod for the same reason I have a non leaking Valeo and just for piece of mind in knowing it can never ever happen as I know other makes have been known to leak as well just not as common as with the Valeo.

What size out of those 2 would you say I should go for?

Why exactly have EC suggested that you get an external trans cooler? Do you use the car for towing or are you a big time racer ? UK is not exactly known for it's warm climate.

It's simply because I have a non leaking and currently non problematic Valeo radiator and the cheapest way to ensure I will never have the issue is to split the systems as fitting a cooler is simple and at a 5th of the cost of a new radiator it just makes sense.

So I would be taking this route to ensure it would be impossible for there to ever be contamination of the transmission fluid with the current Valeo or any other make that might be fitted in the future.
