ive probably done 100 smoky long burnouts in my c55 without any issue. Without going into dyno mode. Manual mode, 1st gear traction off...spin

I think the reading comprehension of this forum went down with the value of the car as evidenced by the replies in this thread.

C55 will not burnout in manual, comfort or sports modes, traction control kicks in and limits power even with the ESP disabled when any sort of brake/gas overlap is detected. This sucks for drag racing on radials or slicks. Dyno mode is one way around it but you're almost certainly guaranteed to ruin only one of your tires since the limited slip effect is disabled. It will not drift either, a few seconds after going sideways the traction and stability control kicks in, cuts the power and applies brakes. Kind of a bummer, I love getting sideways and this thing has enough power to do it in 2nd gear all day long.

It will roast tires off the line no problem, esp off and go, transmission mode doesn't matter, just floor it enough to hit the kickdown switch.

I agree!
People digging up year old threads to blather nonsense just isn't helping the forum.

BTW, my C55 will do a brake stand in C, S, and M.

I'm the one digging it up, was googling if there's a workaround for when I take it drag racing

What's the build date on yours? Mine is 11/2004. They probably removed this limitation on newer cars.

The car should burn out no problem with esp off.

I had this issue on my c43. even on wet surface the car had trouble breaking loose

I dont usually like to do burnouts so I have no idea if it still has that problem.

Must be nice haha, my C55 won't do a standing burning out without dyno mode engaged.
Sad.

I dont know about standing burnout in my c55, haven't tried that but Id have the esp off and hit the gas and the car would brake loose easily and start getting sideways

agreed my esp is off right now for some reason and I can roast the tires at a 20 roll.
