MB Key Intermittently Works After Car is Driven

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas of what is causing my situation. I have a 2003 C32. The key stopped actuating doors and the trunk. I replaced the batteries and ensured the light on the key comes on when the buttons are pressed. The other key doesn't work the doors either. The key works to start the car, but does not always get recognized right away by the ignition and sometimes requires a button push of the key to be able to turn the ignition. After driving the car the key will unlock, lock and open the trunk as expected. If I come back within an hour the key works fine for all door functions. After 2 hours it is 50/50 chance it will work. Overnight it won't work at all. I can't see it being a fuse since it works sometimes. I have tried pointing the key at close range at both door handles and that doesn't help. Any ideas?

There are five items in he CL system, don't be a Biff and start changing good components out---get the car quick tested and you will learn the fault in ten minutes--then go fix yourself.

Thanks Plutoe. I understand and agree with that plan, but before I did that I wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this same pattern of problem.

Turns out with the cold weather I had a weak (only 1 year old) car battery that was losing power after I drove the car. It had enough juice to start the car, but must have interfered with the key signals and door actuation. Over a cold weekend the car battery went belly up and since I replaced it, I have had no problems.
