Using Steering Wheel buttons on Aftermarket Stereo

Has anybody with a proper aftermarket stereo been able to convert and use the steering wheel controls with their new system? I am going to switch but I will miss the fingertip controls. Any suggestions or somewhere to get information on this?

I personally didn't do my system in the G wagon, but I can still higher/lower the volume on the steering wheel.

I have a stock mercedes navigation head unit. I can adjust my bass on the nav screen also. Sound Advice in FL installed my system.

I too can do this with my current "stock" unit. I am looking to upgrade to an aftermarket system as I am extremely dissatisfied with the Bose system. The only thing I like about it is the steering wheel controls, which I am hoping to keep.

The True OG Modded out W203
only one I heard can do it is Alpine. There is a steering wheel interface module for MB's.

I have heard about such a device as well but I think it's for certain models only.
