C55 with accident report on carfax

I am looking at one now its clean title and the mileage\price is right.

How big of a deal is the accident on the carfax? Apparently it wasn't that major but I am seeing this entry(look below) a month before "damage reported after accident or other incident damage to front"

-blower motor replaced
-dipstick tube replaced
-drive belt(s) replaced
-PCV system checked

Were those items part of the accident reported or unrelated? I'm having a hard time figuring out why those items warrant mention on Carfax.

I have no idea. Thats all the info thats on there.

the car was owned by the second owner when it happened. The current(third) owner says it was just "front air dam" damage.

Not sure what to make out of that.

I dont think those items are related btw. When I read air pump I was thinking the pump on the front top of the motor but its heater related. Together with the drive belts I thought those two items were related to the accident.

That'd be a pretty bad hit if all those things were replaced due to an accident!

They look unrelated.

The
*blower motor replaced
*dipstick tube replaced
*drive belt(s) replaced
*PCV system checked
Were all done through Mercedes warranty those are "Warranty Repairs"and have absolutely nothing to do with the accident report.

Please read the carfax correctly.

I told you the truth about the accident report the previous owner never got the air dam repaired because it was minor damage about the same price as his deductible. He drove it that way for a long time before my wife and I bought it. The damage was on the very bottom of the air dam you could hardly see it.

This week the car will get an alignment check oil change and trans 80k mile service and I may just keep it. For 9k or so it is just not smart to give up such a nice car.

Carfax is nothing more than a guide, just like Trucar. With the high price of admission on many M-B a PPI will reveal more than a Carfax/True car report. An actual service history is far more important. IMO.

Hi Eric I hope you understand I am a serious buyer and this forum is my go to place for any concerns. There was a misunderstanding in reading the carfax plus a buyer has to be cautions right?

I wouldn't have spent $40 on a carfax and scheduled a pre purchase inspection at a MB dealer for $170 tomorrow if I wasn't serious.

These cars do come around rarely but when they do they dont sell quick. I know from experience

And every person\dealer especially I spoke with was confident that they would sell it within days because they are getting calls but no....every single car hung around for a month or so.

Ive seen em drop from 12 to 9 then sell.

Anyway let me know if you want to sell still or not. I am interested and Ill call it a fair price for both.

I have no problem waiting for another one.

I paid for your carfax, I offered to pay for an inspection, I question the front end damage for which you had no pictures what so ever.

I dont know if the previous owner hit a wall at 30 mph or if they ripped off the bumper while pulling out the driveway. Until I see proof I will question it and Ive dealt with too many cars that ended up being lemons. I dont think you are ready to sell it so I think you should move on.

I thought I treated you with respect.

My budget for a c55 is up to 14k so passing on a 9k one with an accident on the report is no big deal for me. Good luck selling with that kind of mindset.

You bailed out as soon as i mentioned an inspection which makes me think you have things to hide. Who in their right mind would not take a free inspection on their car and maybe even sell it. Its not like I was low balling you.

Anyway lock thread please I am done here

Can you be more specific? What attitude?

We came and saw your car. We had a good talk and I said Ill let you know later tonight what we think. Told you the car looked great.

On my way home I called and scheduled an inspection with the dealer.

Asked my wife what shed pay for it and she said shed be fine with 10k(you were asking 10.5)

You claim excellent condition car with new tires but your car vibrated on the highway noticeably. As a seller you should be ok with a potential buyer requesting an inspection and you said you were and you said you had it inspected when you bought it.

You want attitude??

I can do attitude. Dont come here making me look like a whiny *****

I was ready to buy your car and I treated you with respect. Wait till you get a fukin gypsy russians come try to buy your car. They'll low ball you down to 7 grand. You could have sold your car for 10 today, now I dont want it for half that.

C'mon knock it off. The car is at Mercedes getting a 16 point inspection right now. I will edit my posts.

The car is not for sale regardless.

You took his questioning wrong from the start. In no way was he questioning you, the seller, he rightfully was confused as to why such trivial items appeared on the Carfax is all.

Some of us know these cars mechanically pretty well after years of out-of-warranty ownership and those listed items made zero sense to all of us as related to an accident. Which is pretty much the sole reason someone else runs their report in the first place.

Who in their right mind would buy an AMG and not want to know the causation of those listings? The fact you took it as an affront to your integrity is laughable.

@L8 apex ----> A mans integrity and a good name is a sign of his character.

The vibration you felt was from the tires flat spotting because I try not drive the car in the rain. I told you that. If you would have drove the car for another 10-20 miles the tires would have smoothed out. I know the tires are old and told you so, but I figured it was a selling point to leave the original tires we put on 5 yrs ago that are 50% rear 70% front to show the car was properly cared for.

Here is the Mercedes report from Rocklin Mercedes. Nothing major the cracked hydraulic strut bushings are from age not physical damage. I even had the service adviser sign his initials where he zeroed out the slight seepage as not needing repair at all.

I told you about the strut bushing so that info was divulged.

No more Craigslist for me I will sell only to family, friends or veterans from now on.

Go ahead and call Mercedes PJmak I will give permission.

You are correct and thanks.

I am familiar with the m113 but it didn't occur to me that the newer models dont have a dip stick. I thought they did just like my car does and its in the front of the engine.

The blower motor.....I thought that was the small air pump on the top front of the motor.

Together with belts being replaced one can see why I thought all this was related to the front area damage. All of the things listed are on the front of the engine.

Thats where the confusion happened and I am a bit bummed out. Not so much because of the car but because of ho the deal ended. I thought the seller was such a nice guy

And again, your integrity was never called into question. "Character"? Yes, you seem to be one.

5 year old tires in no way show the car was cared for. Even if they had nearly zero miles on them, they're getting hard and therefore, useless and/or dangerous for C55 levels of torque.

Because friends and family won't have the same questions. And veterans? Where in the Hell does that make sense? "Didn't serve? Then your cash is no good". Uh, ok (backs away slowly).

Some of these broken-English sentences make me think there was a cultural disconnect here and you got your feelings hurt. I agree with PJ and wouldn't buy this for $5k at this point.

eBay and Autotrader are your best options. Factor in a day for travel, maybe two. At least a one-way ticket with the option to make it round trip and start searching.

I searched for most a year before I found the color/mileage/price point I wanted, flew on a puddle-jumper from Ohio to NC next to a mostly not-crying baby, did the bank deal and then drove 9hrs. straight home. Whole day was close to 14hrs. from leaving my house to getting back and I'd do it double tomorrow for the right car.
