2004 c230 cluster, radio, ac issue at start

Ok I have done some searching and cant seem to find my issue.
I have a 2004 C230 that has started an interesting problem. It happens at startup and its intermittent at best. at startup it will not activate gauge cluster, radio ac turn signals, any controls. it doesn't happen all the time... every so often it will not try to start. i cant find same symptoms. any ideas?

I would look to a faulty ignition module and or front SAM-----you do this with good diagnostic tools not the finger in the wind approach!!

I recently had this happen as well.
Here is what I posted on someone else's thread. Make sure once you figure out the problem, you come back and update here so that other users can benefit from your thread. If the below statement doesn't help, be sure to check all your fuses. Good luck!

The windows wouldn't go up or down, the turn signals stopped working, the a/c, all center dash buttons, and the fuel and speed tachometers weren't responding. And then at a certain point it wouldn't start the car either. And then at other times everything worked as expected. It turned out to be my key. There was a component that cracked from 12 years of wear and dropping of the key. It was working intermittently because the component was still making contact some of the time. Open your key, slide the battery out, then slide out the circuit board. Closely look at that circuit board and check that everything is intact (no broken components or cracks on the board) and that your key batteries haven't gone bad.

...and to be more specific: it was the copper color coil on the back of the board that broke on mine. This seems to be a somewhat common problem.

2004 C230
Sounds like a path forward. My key housing is cracked so its time to get a new one. And the other has been lost for years... WHOOPS! Will let you know what happens.
