Crashed my 2003 C32 AMG

Sorry to say, I crashed my C32 coming off of the 60 East
in Riverside. I was approximately driving 45 coming into a sharp
turn exiting the highway and pushed the car to 50 but slowed
down once noticing my esp light coming on and after that I blinked and it was over, my car slipped through the rear tires and the car hopped over the curb, over the plants and into a wall sideways, with my driver/side airbags and the rear side impact airbags plus the side curtains airbags inflating. It was really devestating. Once I had come to a stop, the SOS had already called the emergency vehicles and unlocked all doors plus turning on the hazardous light. What was strange though is my car's engine was still running and the radio+ navigation was still working after a harsh impact at 45 mph side ways into the freeway cement walls. I had a dislocated left knee and a few bruises but that was pretty much it.. I walked away with not too many injuries due to the safety and protection the benz has.

Basically the, whole left side (driver side) of my C32 was completely destroyed with the front wheels pulled out of its "socket" and I snapped somewhat of the crankshaft and my roof of the car was a bit compressed. The outside of the doors were pretty much gone, so you can only see the inside metal bars!

I'll have pics up soon.

Now, 2 months later, I bought a 2004 CLK55 AMG.
Im just fortunate... thanks to Mercedes!

Sorry to hear that.. happens pretty often unfortunately.

Never brake when you're turning or you're toast.. feather the throttle.

Damn I learned so much by playing Gran Turismo 3

thats really impressive how you got out of that and how all that SOS stuff worked out great, if you were in a honda you would probably have a couple broken bones....

actually I did worse than this guy in a 04 prelude, and i walked away with just a sore neck and back.

Sharp mountain turn doing 80+ in a 35 (yes i was young and dumb) lost control...

Flipped the car 4 times (friends behind saw it all)

slammed into the side embankment twice...

Airbags popped...

car totalled.

car saved me for sure.

Glad You're OK

Sorry about the car. But glad to hear you're OK, that's the most important thing..

I recently totalled my 2003 M3 and decided to try a car from the other side of the fence, so I am now driving a 2002 C32. (and I saved some money after insurance paid me out, put it all towards a rocking honeymoon).

Have a great time in the new ride!!

Sorry about yr loss but glad you alive and kicking the new ride.

Assume is 25mph turn with 50mph speed...I do that all the time on Topanga Cyn...I do faster if I feel good driving that day.
When you see the esp blinking, turn off the esp and give it a bit gas.
Let the car slide and do the power out thur those freeway ramp. It's fun. Now is time to try it on your new CLK55.

im not so sure about that idea

Never turn ESP off once it is trying to correct for a skid. They only thing you can do at this point is to either hold steady state throttle and try to keep the line you are currently on or to lift off the gas and hope the car tucks in and tightens its line (for understeer). It is hard to believe that the C32 would be oversteering in this case but once again, the car will not let you add throttle input so just stay steady on the gas or lift slightly while counter steering into the skid...wait for the esp system to stop the yaw and then straighen out the steering wheel to prevent the car from snapping back the other direction.

Turning the system off mid drift could cause the brakes to suddenly release and this could cause the car to become even more upset than before. If ESP is already off, by all means feel free to throttle steer at will. With no LSD this can get messy very quickly being that you will be burning up your inside rear tire only.
