Speed43 Air Box
#26
Hey there, sorry for reviving an old thread but are you still offering this mod? I just had my C55 decatted (all 4) with Kleemann midlength headers installed, then ECU tuned by Eurocharged. The car still just doesn't feel fast enough so I was looking into air intake and maybe further exhaust modification such as x pipe or whatnot. I came across this thread and was instantly interested. The work looks beautiful and if it nets more hp I am all for it. The Renntech box is over 2k and not justifiable.
Yes, I have an oem C55 air box ready to mod. Haven't started as I have two air boxes to do for other Mercedes cars. Send me an email and we can work something out. You will NOT need renntech to make the same power my boxes make. Not saying their product is bad, but I tailor for those that want to save money and keep a guy making a little profit to make ends meet. Email me at geo3617(@)gmail.com
Thanks.
George

Air box has been sold.
For those of you that have emailed and will be buying in a few weeks. Please know it will be a first come first serve...
Waiting time will be between 5-10 days. 5 if I have the oem box in stock, and 10 if I have to buy one...
Thanks.

First off I'd like to make a shout out to George (Speed43) for making everything simple with shipping and giving me a box to use while i get mine modded now to the air box i must say this it defiantly made a difference in my lower RPM range and lower speed city driving, I feel more pull when i floor it and it also seems to be bit more responsive with the throttle! also some people asked if it changed the sound of the car and i can say YES it did, it sounds a little deeper and beefier and i don't hear the air being pulled into the engine like some state would be very noticeable since all the fenders and ridges have been removed that were restricting some of the air flow.........I will be doing a Dyno to Prove the performance for those in the Fence as it were.........I must say i know i received some gain but how much is the question and i shall have an answer in near future

I am trying to work on getting a dyno. Have a customer that said he would do one soon but life takes us a different way.... But, if you like to try my box for 5 days let me know. After 3-5 days you won't want a Dyno for proof. If you don't see or feel a difference send it back and I will refund every penny right back to you.
Renntech claims 10Hp/10TQ with their very expressive box. My box follows the same concept but much more affordable. Will they offer you what I'm offering you? I honestly don't think so, you have nothing to loose with me.
I will also send you the elbow mod with the air box. After you try both out please post a mini review good or bad. I have not had one review that said my air boxes don't make a difference.
If this don't interest you, and you still want a Dyno, you will need to wait. It's like if I asked you to do a Dyno. When will you have the time or where is a place convenient to go to? I don't own a C55 so I can't do a Dyno. But look what I'm offering you. Test it and after a few days post a review and trash me or give me credit for doing this work to the oem boxes. Oem look and with added power!

Yes, we been trying to get his car and my box to the track. But Chicago weather has been stopping him. This weekend his going to run it. If the track closes he will do a 0to60 at least.

Found a video that might illustrate your point:
It's a slightly different application, but still the same concept: the shape of the air filter is directly affecting the airflow through the rest of the intake. Even though the "straw" isn't getting any bigger on the end, the air is still passing through at an increased rate. Pretty cool.
Speed43, you need to get your hands on one of those machines!

Speed43,
I'm interested in trying this; however, how will this mod affect California smog requirements, i.e., air/fuel mixture? Also, I want to modify my OEM airbox but keep my builder's nameplate, AMG chrome logos, etc. In addition, I don't want to be without the use of my car at any time! Please respond!
Thanks...
Rob

Than if you want you can send me your air box and I will refund you some cash. If you want to keep it that's ok too because I have enough boxes already. Email me and we can discuss further.
As far as emissions in California or anywhere you will NOT have any issues.
Another option is I can send you an air box for you to use. When you get it you can send me yours and I will mod it and send it back. Once you get the modded box than you will send my borrowed box back. More money in shipping this way but you will have your car to use.
If you have any suggestions or ideas that will help you out just let me know.
Are you interested in the regular air box or the new one with Bell Mouths?
