Best place to get this part?
I searched and managed to find a part number but some of the prices Im seeing are ridiculous.
Wheres the best place to order these and does the assembly come apart to where you can just get the plastic cover??

I'm assuming you mean the button surrounds since the soft-touch gets worn and looks like crap? Yes, OEMs are expensive and there seems to be no cheap alternative I've found. You can find stickers cut to go over them in various faux CF on eBay if that's your thing.
I'm trying to decide if I want a thicker, custom steering wheel for 600.00 or so. Leather that matches the seats, bigger hand bolstering and a silver, embroidered stripe at 12o'clock. If I do that, new buttons are a must.

It is pretty easy to get the soft touch surrounding off if you have the time. I'm working on a couple right ups that I have done over the winter but you need to get the airbag off then separate the buttons from the frame. Make sure the battery is off or you have a code reset for the airbag. Also be careful with the wires that go to the circuit board. I accidentally pulled a couple wires off and had to resolder them. The safest way is to unbolt the circuit board from the airbag then unplug the buttons. It will make more sense once it is apart. Once they are off just a couple screws and the face plate is separated. I sanded and wrapped mine but you can also paint them.

Retail price on these is $278.00 for the pair. Part number A171-870-13-10-9698.
There is no availability right now from Mercedes but they're not discontinued either so it will take some time to get them if you order them on a dealer.
