Missing from the above list are a few other key pieces of information:
- Vehicle weight
- Vehicle aerodynamics (Cd and frontal area)
- and calculated data including power to weight ratio...

Sal, here is some more ammo from this past Sunday. Enjoy!

I egged an S6 Avant on. It looked like a father driving and son in the passenger's seat. I he came up on me and I could tell it was and S6 by it's size and badge in the grill. I put it in 4th at about 85 and pulled up next to him and blipped the throttle and looked over with a smile. Both of them looked over and the S6 took off. I pursued around a bend on I-80's(Ohio) empty three lanes. By 125-130 MPH I pulled even and let up by 140 MPH with 4-5 car lengths on him.
I slowed for traffic and he flashedand let them pull up beside. I got a big smile from the driver and a smile and thumbs up from the passenger. I returned with the same.

The S6 Avant has 340 hp and 310 trq but weighs a portly 4000 lbs. Compared to 349/332/3540 curb weight for the C32.

When I exited I flashed the high beams and he tapped his brakes twice. Probably the most friendiest race I have ever had.

Norm

C32 AMG
Vadim has a good point and so do the others. This is what Vadim was trying to say...(time to break out the physics)

Assuming constant acceleration,
Final velocity = Initial velocity + (rate of acceleration * time)

Their are many variables to consider, including driver, so it is hard to say which car was really faster. The C32 did get the jump, so we will say it won, but for the sake of argument...IF final velocity was about the same, we don't know much. That means the two variables of initial velocity and during of acceleration affect the rate of acceleration most. By adjusting these values, you can get a basic assesment of the situation. We shall not talk about drag, the slip stream, ect....and of course, acceleration is not constant.

Call me a dork if you'd like, but when my C32 comes, I will be a fast one

stock-wise, always thought the s4 was more in competition with the c36/c43, e36 m3. the new e46 m3, c32, and possibly the rs4 or new upcoming s4, is more in competition with each other, no? street racing is so dependent on skill....

Thanks Norm and good kill and Benzy if you were to throw 4k into the s4 and the c32 the difference would probably change drastically for the c32.

side note: I have dreams with the C32 so I envy you C32 drivers, wish I could just test drive one. The C32 is just one of those cars that comes so rarely that has it all.

Anyways keep up the kills and can't wait to hear a bimmer kill like an M5

you are correct to an extent.....the S4 can be taken in 11's with just a tad bit more than the 4k i had mentioned....to get the C32 in that range you would have to spend just a little more just because mercedes is such an expensive car to mod. either way, they are both nice cars *I favor the C32 though* but i mean....how man C32's are already in the 11's

C32 AMG
Very few people have modded their C32 engines, probably close to none. Renntech has lots of upgrades, but they are very very expensive. Potentially, the car can have close to 450hp. So far, most of the mods performed have been to firm up the suspension.

I read this thread about these cars somewhere else and the owner of both the C32 and S4 said it wasnt a long race, the S4 was catching up, and the C32 is stock while the S4 was heavily modded. Still looks cool thou.

I've only placed this thread on this board & my own board. Dont think the story that you read is the same one. The S4 was catching up only when I began to slow down.
