Let me ad my point of view on that subject.
An Orange C32 has unclearcoated paint and allows 1.2 magnamounts of air moist into the paint making your tire wear uneven.
Plus if I may ad, your 22 inch spoked wheels will not let you brakes cool and add extensive wear to the calipe
rs.
So my point of view is that you should listen to me and be a stuffy internet nobody who thinks they are the shizzle..

To add a bit more on that one... the "way" that M Benz "had" planned to deploy is in a full 10 year program (that already started with the new cars (C32, SL, etc etc)... the first time that I heard of the steer by wire was in the early 90s, but I didn't see a car until just a few years ago... first on a show that I went when I was "visiting" my parents in Viena, so I didn't know if that was for real... and now, at the AMG plant, they've had a "Steer by wire" test car... which incorporates the all concept from Mercedes Benz to stay away from mechanics and have everything controlled by the electronics... though it sounds scary that you are no longer using a drive shaft to steer the wheels, airplanes have been steered by wire for decades... and though they sometimes "fall" from the sky --just every now and then--.... and some malfunctions have occurred on the steering systems on planes before, the decades of "trouble" shooting on planes "served" as the testing grounds to perfectionate it for safe "ground use" ...haha... interesting that on the air, feels less risky that on a car steered by wire on the ground huh???... (on planes, especially the big ones you have no choice.. is either that... or you would need 20 people so steer the dam plane!...lol)

With the release of the new models, starting with the E55 with the advanced all electronic braking system, which is the "first" introduction of the all controlled by wire feature now on cars available everywhere... (or at least to those that can afford the E55... (yo Doc!...)

At first, the car does feel like a video game, and I don't play video games... but it takes a bit of "getting used" to as the steering process processes not only which direction you are steering, but acceleration and breaking as well (forward/backwards for the stick), though what I've been told, the first line up will use pedals for accelerating and breaking... when I had the demo, the "great" feature was that Mercedes will no longer have to manufacture parts for "left" and "right" ****pits... as for each part any of our cars have, there is a part with a different catalog number for the same part on cars that have it on the right side

My father.. (Not vader... in this case it is my real father ) is more sold on the Fuel cell M Benz more than the new S class... (that technology –Fuel cell/Hydrogen-- has been developed originally by BMW.. now Mercedes has "swallowed" it on to their shop)

My understanding is that M Benz plans to roll the steer by wire version (with pedals still on the floor) on the market with the next major S class release (something as already started by the soo wonderful C class!!! overhaul of the models most of us have, SL class, followed by the new E class release, SLK, and the list goes...)

I don't think the "replica" version will look good on any car that is not "steer by wire" equipped --the whole cabin set up is completely different... although.. Doc doesn't get "replicas" --ohhh men.. I smell it coming... I am gonna get creamed!!!!.. just easy on me Doc... lol --for some reason that sounded so gay.. haha-- I am probably 1/10 your size probably, like the size of one of your arms maybe... SilvaC32 (Jerry) can tell you that (we met last Saturday after a much anticipated "E55 hype" style long wait of days and days ... however, unlike the E55 hype, SilvaC32 does have a ton of work on his car I'll say)

And I want to my meet Mr Franko!... just watch out that Mr Franko doesn't car wash his car or wax it on Friday or decide to get new tires!!!... then we are out of luck and he will be coming driving his 69 VW beetle!... ... (oh no!... Mr Franko... as Mr Vader said before Use the force Luke!.. oh no.. that wan’t Vader’s comment, was it?... who said that?... oh well...

WOW.. double WOW.. I will have to check on that one (my mother in law worked at Dupoont's resarch lab though she is now retired, I will have her pull back out that phd in Chemistry and see what we get!.. lol )

I was not able to fit 20 inch rims on my C32.. they simply didn't fit... 22s??... lol

It will be nice to meet all of you guys that are in the LA area... unless of course, I have; singled handed managed to **** everyone off now .. I still think I haven't pissed off the lemonade stand guy ... (that would be for those who have not read ALL the postings on this subject, Mr Thai... hmmm... still don't know who he is...let me give ya' a lil' hand on that one:

My ride is PHAT! I just did that color change last week. It took me like 45 bottles of spray paint (home depot was happy with my purchase), but I think it looks freakin cool yo! Those 22's are DA BOMB! I've got to be the first with 22's on my ride - and I upgraded to gold plated brake lines so no fade! The only fading is me and my 40oz of 8-Ball!

Here's what my ride used to look like before I became a Super P*I*M*P!



I was getting too much drag from the satellite dish (I lost like .0000003 of a second on my qtr mile time) so I had to remove it. The gold plated AMG rims were bartered off to a street vendor in TJ (I was drunk and hungry and the tacos and chiclets looked good).

Vader13, I have test drove the E55 before I got my 996tt, honestly I am with you 100%. You guys know how much I tune my C-, and the E55 did not imporessed me as much on the test drive. It may be a bit quicker over 80-90 mph and of couser more after that BUT is not that fun to drive that a well C32 with 350 rwhp, and not even mention the handling. If we need to put both cars in a track I do not think the E55 will pay the $. Now on the Autobanh or the Aurtostrada....well it may be another story. E55 is more confortable and lux than the C, but this is the trade off.
