C55 Overheat and Leaking Coolant
Please help.
2006 C55 with 137k miles
I was driving on the highway when I got a error message about the alternator and to take it to a shop. Since I was on the highway I had to find a safe spot to pull over. Before I could find a spot, another error message appeared about the car overheating and the temp gauge was spiking. As soon as I pulled over to a safe spot and shut off the car the coolant blew all over my windshield. I had it towed and the coolant continued to keep leaking the whole way there.
So I'm already thinking worst case here and fearing how much this is going to cost.
I'm thinking it was a blown belt given the alternator went first and it felt like power steering was weak as well before the temperature spiked. My worry is what damage was done since it overheated before I could shut it down. It was less then 5 minutes from the first error message for the alternator till it was shut off and maybe less then 3 when the temperature message came on.
Since the shop isn't open till the morning, any thoughts on the damage?
Thanks in advance.
