Mercedes Benz 2003 AMG C32
Alternator/battery error
My Mercedes Benz AMG C 32 2003 says check Alternator/ Battery and it doesnt start. When we showed it to a mechanic he says fuel pump is gone and he says it costs around $ 1100. Even though it says Alternator / battery can the fuel pump be at fault?

Out Of Control!!
You need to change mechanics-----remember its an electric fuel pump and if there is no voltage wada you think the fuel pump will do.
I would first have you charging system tested----whats the issue---battery, voltage regulator or alternator??

While I do not know much about cars, this happened to me and while I did change the alternator my fuel pump was bad and would not crank.
I replaced the CPS, MAF, Fuel Pump, Alternator, and Fuel Pump Relay. Also check the fuses to the rear SAM module.

Unless your current mechanic can explain to you why the fuel pump is causing the battery/alternator issue, then I would strongly suggest finding a new mechanic for your car. If the car is cranking just fine and the vehicle is not starting with no or low fuel pressure issues, then maybe the fuel pump may be at fault. With temperature changes you could also be looking at some rodent damage under or around the car. They love MB wiring harnesses.

yeah, doesn't make sense to me either. And FYI, if it really is your fuel pump (they commonly do fail), you can save a ton of money by looking up old threads about replacing it. I don't know part #'s anymore, but I found fuel pumps and fuel feeder pumps off of VW's that are the exact same part on eBay. You can buy them for super cheap, it just takes a little research. I had my mechanic pull out the pumps and then I searched the bosch part #'s.
Good Luck!
