C55 instrument cluster pixels
Has anyone else had an issue with the pixels in their C55 instrument cluster? It has been cold here and my C55 has been in the garage for the past three weeks. Today I took the car out since it was warm, in the mid 50's and noticed some weird looking pixels

I guess no one else has experienced this. Very odd. Perhaps it got too cold in my garage and that caused some of the pixels to freeze? Even though the weather is warmer, it still looks the same. I guess my only option at this point is to live with it or replace the instrument cluster.

This is common on the SL and other LCD panels, and it’s known as the ‘pink shrimp’. Search for that term.
The only way to fix it is to replace the LCD screen. Find a good donor instrument panel and tear it apart.
I believe replacing the instrument panel requires mating it to the car with an SDS. Not easy or cheap.
I’ve replaced the LCD screens on my SL, and made a DIY, and I’m sure the W203 has means of replacement LCD’s.
Let us know if you tackle this and share some pics or a DIY.

kbob999, thanks so much for the information. I am now finding all kinds of information about the pink squid condidtion. If I decide to tackle this I will make sure to take pictures and create a DIY.
