I agree. The C240 was one of the most disappointing cars I have ever driven. How anyone drives the C240 off the MBZ lot and is happy with their purchase is beyond me. The 4 cylinder Camry that I had as another loaner could've run circles around the 240.

You had to hit the door with your shoulder to pop it open when you wanted to get out. Plus it had all the handling of a Barcalounger - and you sank into the mushy soft seats. And gutless - the 6 cyl and automatic tranny were completely at odds with one another.
European motors here in SF gives you Enterprise rental cars (no MB) if you have warranty repairs that require keeping the car for a couple of days.

I have you all killed! My dealership here in STL doesn't even give you a Mercedes back as a loaner car! In my 4 years of dealing with them, I've had the following:
99 Ford Taurus SL(?) -- various colors, blue, red, green, etc.
99 Dodge Intrepid
Pretty pathetic when I give them my Benz and I get a Ford in return to drive for the week! You all who even get any year Mercedes are lucky!

Worst loaner I ever got was an '86 Honda Accord with 190,000 miles on it and an ailing transmission. From a little Honda dealer in Ottawa, Illinois.
The best I ever got was a 2003 Dodge Ram Quad Cab with a mean exhaust. From Frahm Dodge in Norco, CA (whose service department sucks *****, by the way).

loaner
My C32 was disabled recently for the SRS fault. Five days over two dealer visits. The first time in, I got an ML. The second trip, I complained that the ML did not have a CD player and I was headed for a business meeting on the other side of state, they gave me a pretty nice loaner. It was a new Black over tan BMW X3, with, believe it or not, a six speed. Whoever heard of a loaner fleet with six speed vehicles in it? While I would never buy any SUV, I have to admit that the X3 was surprisingly nimble, and almost fun to drive. When my wife gets ready to trade in her MDX in a year or two, I might have her check these out, which is probably why they gave me one. The ML did not hold a candle to the X3...although both felt like slugs when I floored it.
